I just bought some new wheels (SuperPerformance Repro's) and decided to try them out before I made the switch. The current wheels, put on by PO, are Gotti's.

Here's the problem, they don't seem to fit, and the pic below is what the hub looks like. Can someone tell me if that is an adapter ring, and if so would that be the only problem. Do I need a different size ring?

Without a mic and calipers at home I can't tell exactly what size each side is, but both rims look to be very close to the same ID.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,
    John

You shouldn't need that extra ring for mounting the Superformance repros -- the "business" diameter of the stock hub and stock wheel on a '78 308GTS is 67mm diameter. (Your brake disc retaining bolts seem non-stock as well -- but I don't know if that is significant for your fitment.)

That's what I kind of figured too, but I wanted some other more experienced opinions before I try to remove the adapter ring. Any advice there?

    Thanks for the help!

Just pop it off. It should not be on there too tight. Get a thin bladed screwdriver and try to wiggle it off side to side. No biggie..don't be scared to hit the screwdriver with a hammer to help it along the way.

After removing the adapter ring to mount the new wheels, check that the rear lug bolts do not foul the nose of the hub before tightening. I was one of the first to fit these wheels to my 78 GTS and I found the rear lug bolts were about 0.050 inches too long. The remedy was to shorten the rear bolts to allow a clearance with the hub. You may not have this problem but it's prudent to check.
