some years ago, the FML used to run biweekly ads for a knockoff removal tool which fit around the three eared knockoffs, complete with handle and all, which made it difficult to damage the knockoffs which are usually removed with the help of the lead mallet. Does anyone know if these are still available, and where?

    Thanks

Napolis uses this tool also Coach, it's in his P4 threads somewhere, a nylon padded tool that swings the eared spinner loose without damage..

Can one of our technical search gurus find the post and the vendor???

If not Napolis responds to PMs as he is able.....HTH.

    My personal experience:
I bought one a while ago and no longer use it. It may be OK if you've got chromed hubs, but on the painted hubs it's easy to chip the paint with the lugs that engage the ears on the spinner.
I have now learnt more patience with the hammer, haven't damaged any ears or chipped a wheel rim in years.

Do you use the two (2) hammer method? Hold the lead hammer firm against the spinner, and strike it with a heavy steel hammer. I've had xlnt results, so far... ;)

I use a rag on the knock off with a copper hammer that is a lot heavier than the one supplied by Ferrari in 1959. No problems so far.

I have used a rag with the lead hammer for 20 years, however, I always fear that I may not have tightened the spinner enough; it would be nice to be able to use a torque wrench and tighten to the recommended number, which is what on the daytona?

That one on eBay is not the one that Napolis uses, IIRC......maybe send him a PM, if he is back in from driving around Sicily....
