Mooseclipper is a friend of Hubert's out in California from what I understand. I'm guessing mooseclipper has logged in on the same computer at some point in time as hubi during either ones' travels. I moderate a few other boards that I'm on and you'll find it's common that ip's overlap, especially with kids at school, etc. so you'll get a couple names per ip. The other thing is that I'm pretty sure you can see which posts were made from which ip so you can tell which posts are coming from which ip. In that case the person's usually warned and the problem sorted out. If a resolution can't be achieved then the person is dealt with. It could have possibly been looked into further before a ban was warranted, seeing that it isn't uncommon for multiple names to show up on an ip.

I'm coming from the point of view as a moderator and administrator of other web boards.

Did his mother name him mooseclipper? Unfortunately it would appear that both IPs from him match with IPs from Hubert. It is of course possible that Mooseclipper has only posted from places where Hubert but it seems more like it was just another account he created to try and joke around. I did a search and couldn't find any other "mooseclipper" on the web.

 

Just speaking from experience in general. So it's not proven, just assumed at this point, correct?

 

I don't get involved with the NY section much, I was more of a technical assistant on this one. In general if we get multiple matches like that it usually turns out to be the case that it's the same person. I'm willing to check it out a little more if someone would care to present more information but so far I haven't seen anything to indicate it wasn't a solid match up. Feel free to PM me if you have anything you would rather not post publicly.

Mark and I have both looked at this and we have both come to the same conclusion, not to mention there were inconsistencies between mooseclippers emails to Rob and what was noted in his profile.

Which other boards do you administer and moderate?

Also, are you a member of InsideTheEC? Are you friends with Hubert? I would assume yes to both. Not that it matters, but I'd like to make sure we are operating with full disclosure here.

I think it's pretty lame to ban a user under some assumptions without consulting with the user first ESPECIALLY when the user is freaking Rossa subscribed.

I spoke to Hubert about this and unfortunately it looks like you guys are wrong.

I have been on this board for 4 years. This used to be my favorite board on the net, and I can hardly stand reading it anymore. ESPECIALLY the NYTS section, which used to be the best regional section on fchat.

And what the hell are you getting so bent out of shape for on the other thread anyway? You post a thread on the rapid decline of 430 pricing (MSRP in the near future, LOL), yeah thanks for that informative post. But I mean seriously, everyone who has read all your posts on your view of Ferrari right now and why you went Gallardo knows exactly what the real meaning of your post is. I'm sure tons of others out there felt like me and Zipj and were saying to themselves "oh for god's sake here he goes again." So another user makes an equivalent post about Gallardo pricing, how is that any different from what you are doing? And why the hell do you take it personally in the first place?

I've never met you and I'm sure you are a really nice guy in person. But I gotta be honest with you Ghost, from an objective standpoint you come off like kind of a jerk with an inferiority complex on this board.

 

I don't usually get invovled in this sort of thing because I think it is childish, but I have to agree. I used to love the NYTS section and F-chat in general, but I have a much more cynical perspective of it now. There is a reason the NYTS section is less active, and it is not just all the guys who left to start their own site a while back. There are plenty of us who are still around but just have no desire to participate. Even such respected F-Chat members such as Napolis do not visit anymore.

You can huff up your chest and get all defensive all you want, but when so many people leave on their own accord because of of person, something is wrong (and no, not with this people who left).

Like Mark and I have said, provide proof and we'd be happy to reevaluate. We've got what we think is unquestionable proof that they are both the same person. Right now all I see is a lovefest for Hubert from his boyz.

You think I post a provoking thread on "Ferrari"chat and don't expect to be challenged? Did I take actions against zjpj (who first posted the Lambo comments)? Titanium360? mohwan? Napolis? YOU?!? All of whom challenged me. Spirited debate is what makes this board fun. Nothing to take personally there.

But yes, actions were necessary against Hubert, who thought it would be mighty funny to use to different aliases in the same thread to respond as alter egos. I just happend to catch him here. I would have done the same if I had caught him in any other thread.

I welcome the chance to meet with fellow enthusiasts. Drop a line next time you're in New York.

 

They're not the same as on this board. Nor do I think that question has anything to do with anything I've had to say. That would be going beyond the scope of this board. I tend to try to keep different aspects of my life separate and although I have nothing to hide, I don't think that's necessary. I don't know you personally but we do have friends and acquaintences in common. I have met Hubert before. Just thought I'd throw some input in because I was browsing the boards and saw the thread titled "Hubert888?????????????," on the last post in the off topic section.

I'm not looking to cause trouble or stir things up, just simply proposed a question based on my experience.

 

Please check the ip log-in addresses for both hubert888 and mooseclipper on the day they were banned and when they posted that day. It should show two different IP's. I think the confusion may stem from the fact that they have logged onto Fchat from each other's houses at some time in the past. In fact I think I have logged onto Fchat from Hubert's house, so please don't ban me, I can assure you I am not Hubert.

 

This should be checked out. If a mistake was made in good faith we can correct.

They both posted within minutes, if one IP shows NYC and the other one shows California, then obviously they were 2 different people posting.

It's not rocket science, it's interesting how a simply check has not been done at this point, what's there to hide??

I'm trying to check it out but so far I haven't really gotten anywhere. Without posts being made there is no IP record so all I really have to work on is that all of Mooseclipper's posts were made from an IP that matches Hubert. If I made a mistake I will try and set things straight....

As a moderator, I assume you are able to see the exact IP where those 2 posts came from? Are they the same?
