LOL, I love word play... :)

I would ordinarily go to this, simply because there will be cool cars and car nuts there...

...but that's the same weekend as the FRENCH QUARTER CLASSIC...!!!

Carbon, I was under the impression that you had to register, etc., for the FQC in order to even be there. I would love to go as a spectator for my own birthday present, but don't know what kind of stipulations there are. Please PM more info if you have it. Thanks,

    Matt

Hell, if you can't afford food, you sure can't afford an AMG. Sheesh!

    Matt...

Yes, you must register in order to participate in the different activities during the French Quarter Classic. From what I understand, spectators were allowed at the track and at the concours, for a very reasonable fee ($10-$20?). But I have no idea if those rules are still in effect or if there will even be a concours this year.

You can check out their website, www.frenchquarterclassic.com, for more information.

I'll be there with my AMG

--sure NOT going to FQC---a LOT of people are boycotting this event since it will be tasteless driving Ferraris around in an area where people are still homeless and struggling to survive.

So NOT pumping ~$30-50k into the local economy is better for New Orleans? Not hosting a high class tourist event is better for the image of New Orleans?

They're not going to drive through the Ninth Ward... but you could make the exact same argument in ANY CITY IN AMERICA! "Oh, I won't drive in a rally in Los Angeles, there are struggling people and homeless people there." There are probably more homeless/struggling people in Houston now than New Orleans!

I think it is a good thing to show that the city is still a place people want to visit and celebrate in.

Of course, you can easily say "a lot" of people are boycotting the event - but I don't think they really care *that* much when only 100-120 people are going to attend anyway. That's like saying a lot of people are going to boycott Mel Gibson's birthday parties: it's not like a whole lot of people are even invited.

    well---
A driving tour of the 9th ward is supposed to be part of the package
    and
ANYONE with 1750.00 can go--no invites

I work in NO every month for a few days and I am getting to know a lot of locals and have even gone in and helped for 2 days cleaning up. I would feel embarrassed at this point taking my car down there and showing off in that environment.

Thank you for the support! In the end, we are all just car nuts, right?

More registrations are rolling in every day!

Our special guest for the weekend will be the AMG Brand Manager for the United States. He has accepted our invitation and will be coming down to join in the festivities.

All door prizes will be given away at either the lunch or evening banquet (including the FREE tires), but you must be pre-registered for these events. The deadline for receipt of the completed forms is October 25th as we must provide the hotel with a guaranteed number at that time for meals. We have a very small variance and "walk-in" registrations/guests may not be able to be accommodated.

Request your free registration packet at [email protected]. See you in November!
