I think you are absolutely right.

To me, the 348 is a great car. I do think however, that you will need to drive it for some time to really understand and appreciate what it offers.

Buy what you like. I have not driven a 348. When I drove a 355 with my check book in my pocket I didn't like it either. Then a couple of years later I drove a 360. A great car I should probably still have. Don't buy the car just because it's a Ferrari buy it because you enjoy driving it and its performance. If the 348 doesn't do it for you then save your money and move up.

I really love the look of the 348... I'm gonna give it another chance. Next ill drive it longer and hopefully on a better road where I can get a better feel for the car.

Worth repeating! What is the story with that shot? I've had that one saved for a while now...one of the best 348 shots I've ever seen!

    (pic from the same shoot??)

Those are my car, shot by Chris Schlumpf (4REphotographer) back in April of 2010. They were shot at the Williamsburg Winery. Chris did a really great job. Here's a few more from the same shoot.

OMG..... You sir have my favorite 348. Love that car in red. Couple questions... What's that front lip? The black part. And how much did you lower the car? And any other mods? What a goergous car, it's my phone wallpaper :)

"Huge let down after 348 drive".

Funny. I heard this once before but the person substituted the word "348" for "supermodel".

I told him, "you drove a supermodel and you were let down? Would you prefer it were Rosie O'Donnell? Look, Rosie and a super model may have similar parts but the packaging makes up for some difference!"

    :)

It's a joke but it's true. It isn't what the car does that's important. It's what it does to YOU that's important.

Now you're making me blush. Aren't most of them red?

    Anyway to answer your questions...

Carbon fiber front lip is from Valence. Good luck if you want one -- Valence is apparently not known for their reliable delivery or customer service (do a search). It is the same shape as the original Speciale lip, and has built in skid plates. According to my big book 'o receipts, the original lip was damaged by a prior owner (probably curbed, easy to do), and instead of replacing it with stock, he put this one on.

My car isn't lowered at all. It's set up exactly per factory specs.

Not much in the way of mods... Tubi exhaust, Hyperflow cats, and some interior candy (challenge wheel, Hill pedals and knob, Hill slick shift gate). I've actually got the original factory wheels back on the car for now, but will probably go back to the 360 wheels the next time I need tires. Plus an extensive clear-bra treatment to keep it looking nice, 'cause I drive it a lot.

Oh, one other thing... I managed to source a set of aluminum cam belt covers from GT car parts. Those will be going on the car in a few weeks when it goes in for its major. Not really visible from the outside, but I'll know they're there! :D

Shot of my 93 Serie Speciale from this past summer.

A friend and fellow fchatter also has a speciale but his didn't include the front lip. So he made one for it that looks quite good.

If anyone wants his contact info about a front lip, PM me and I'll get it to you.

I can tell you the underside of my factory lip looks like hell. It's riveted in place and has a tendency to drag -- especially in my driveway. I figure one these days the thing is gonna have to have some extensive repairs.

All that being said, hopefully you drive another. They do get better the more you drive them and understand how to drive them.

one more missed point, most of the older ferraris, looked brilliant with their pop up headlights closed....but once they popped up, looked a little weird, if not hideous with those big round lights.......the 348 changed that......it, with the 355 which obviously brought over that design from the 348 look gorgeous with the lights closed or popped up..... just thought i shld point that out......so Igor, have you gotten your hands on another 348?
