yeah, it's officially fantastic news week now. there have been a spate of idiotic attacks here where wankers drive down the road and throw bricks out their car at oncoming motorists. on sunday, a friend of mine was in such a car. the guy driving was hit in the head and crashed the car, but she (my friend) was relatively unharmed, apart from being in a car crash caused deliberately by scum of the earth and the mental anguish of waiting 20-30 mins with a friend who's head was smashed in. on monday he had to have brain surgery, and he is now in a coma. if/when he awakes, there's a high chance that he'll never be able to live properly. a whole family ruined also. i can't say much more about it. sickening. I'm sorry to hear this, I hope your friend is ok and her boyfriend makes a miraculous recovery. As for the brick thrower, I hope when his time comes it's an ignominious death.
The same sick thing happened here in the Netherlands this week. Yesterday the police arrested some 14 and 15 year old kids...... What is wrong with these kids???
Sheesh. A few years ago, kids were throwing bricks from highway overpasses up here. Hasn't happened in a while. What scum. I hope your friend's boyfriend recovers, and the brick thrower gets caught.

At the risk of getting into Politics, IMHO the problem with the kids of today is the fact that they are not accountable for their actions because the left wing Nanny state and do-gooders have got their way. The constant erosion of discipline, educational standards and sheer old fashioned good manners have deteriorated to the point where, if any kid steps out of line, they know that you even so much as raise a hand to them you're the one in court, not them. It's a very sorry state of affairs. Before anyone gets on their high horse about child abuse and all that crap, I do not advocate that its acceptable to mistreat or abuse a child, and I have only the utmost contempt for those people, but there is a big difference between discipline and mannners against over the top abuse and bullying. One is too set the marker for proper law and order, and the other is to allow the free for all we are experiencing through out the world today . If the kids of today do not have any sense of social order is it hardly surprising that correspondingly they also have no respect for other peoples feelings, property and well being. The only generalisation we can expext from modern youth is a talent to excel in the "F*ck You attitude".

I grew up in a strong Republican upper middle class area and the only thing that mattered was getting ahead at all cost. The only thing that mattered is what YOU got. Along with that came an attitude of "not MY Johnny or Jenny" if their child did anything wrong. There was often no parenting going on. Usually their parents were too busy working to stay ahead of the Jones to pay attention to their childrens needs. I look back at the curfews I had hated and questions my parents consistently asked me (which I naturally disliked) and now realize what made me steer clear of many bad decisions. Respect for my parents. If I were to come home and say to my parents that the teacher hit me they probably would have hit me themselves and said "what'd you do to deserve that?" (For the reccord they never layed a hand on me... I was too scared of dissapointing them to do anything that would result that way- still can't figure out how they managed that) We live in a world of drastically skewed perceptions. If your black and hold up a liquor store with a toy gun for $400 you're going away for 20 years. If your white, college educated and cook the books of your corporation for tens/hundreds of millions of dollars ruining the lives of thousands in retirement funds and jobs... Eh, you'll get a few months in a relatively cushy jail. Lesson here? If you're going to be a criminal go to college. Think the guys on the Enron Board were Left wingers? After all they surely didn't have any respect for the lives and property of the individuals they robed. If you think this problem originates from the political left you're sadly mistaken. Let me give you some homework. I want you to watch Nanny 911 and take a look at how some individuals have NO[/i] idea as to how to deal with, discipline a child. It's really scary watching some of these families. I'll be the first to say most television these days is garbage. Especially reality programming. But, this show is one of the better ones out there. There are many things to learn from it but, I doubt most of America will pull themselves away from the other junk to watch programming they can learn and be entertained by. If we're going to be playing the blame game why not the Right? They've been eroding the middle class and somehow seem to think that if you've got a job at WalMart you should be able to raise a family. Pissed off? Great, now we both are. Blaming some faceless "party" for problems like this just propagates the problem. What has happened here is a total disrespect for human life and property. Im sure there were many reasons that resulted in this situation. And while Ill agree with you that it is a problem that needs to be addressed to try to blame one group is ridiculous
Like I said " IMHO". I can't and won't comment on the conditions and politics in the USA as I know nothing of them and have no intention of trying to understand them. However in voicing my opinion about left wing politics I was expressing my opinion on the trend here in the UK which has degenerated (again IMO not necessarily every one elses) to the current lows since Labour (ie Left) came into power. As you rightly stated your opinion(s), some of which I agree with wholeheartedly, yet again we have a difference of opinion that has started to degenerate into abuse without using reasoned argument. Am I not entitled to express my view (and I emphasise, it was my view and not a statement issued on behalf of the UK government) without being shot down? The fact that you disagree with my view is your right, however I also have the right not to agree with your views. Lets keep it civilised please. There's too much slagging off on these forums at the moment. Freedom of speech is supposed to be about expressing your opinions but nowhere does it say that anyone actually has to listen to what you've got to say. I personally don't care what people think of my views, but I do usually extend them the courtesy of listening to them. A very similar thing happened here, right around Thanksgiving, when some kids, thinking it was a joke, tossed a large frozen turkey out their moving car window, it went thru the windshield of another car, clobbered the driver in the head; she was put into a coma deliberately by the docs to control bleeding, and eventually came back to consciousness, although i'm sure there is neurological damage. The kids, if i remember, thought it was a joke, and claimed to have no thought or realization of the potential injury their acts could and did cause. As to the root causes for such behavior, i think it's utter indifference to the well-being of others; i don't know that this is a recent phenomenon or even one unique to particular cultures or influences. I do believe that, as a general matter, people seem to be not only less courteous to strangers, but have a sort of "****-em" attitude toward others. Whether or not the actors here intended their consequences, or even foresaw them, is beside the point. Their complete indifference is actually more disturbing than a deliberate act. Hope the fellow recovers and your friend, too, since i'm sure this will haunt her... Sorry.
Un farking believable. WTF is the vision these people get in their heads that allows them to do these things I will never understand. Had the Benz hit by some random little sh!tbirds throwing rocks from the side of the road the other day - they were behind a translucent barrier so I saw them but was stuck in rush hour traffic so was rooted. In my case only chipped paint but it still pi$$ed me off. Your friend's incident is just wrong. You want to think that there is sufficient punishment out there for the people that do this type of thing but certainly in America I don't think there is. ash, im sorry to hear that. thats really a shame that an innocent guy minding his own business driving down the road now is in a coma b/c of someones stupidity and sickness. where in the world did they come up with an idea to throw bricks out the window. its people like this that really need to be locked up somewhere FAR away from society. i hope your friend gets better.
I mentioned this horrific account to my wife, who added something she'd seen recently - Dr. Phil's sister-in-law was riding as a passenger when some kids threw a bucket of acid onto her which melted and disfigured her face and burned a large part of her body.
Ash, Real sorry to hear this ... my prays with the guy and family. This is not the first case in Australia, a father died in Sydney from a rock dropped from a over pass. The kids even went to see if he was dead ... Somewhere in these modern times kids (mainly) have developed this attitude of no responsibility or no consequence. I even see it in my kids, where they do not think at all about what will happen if ... Is it over population ... or is it just boredom. I think boredom has a lot to do with it, and it definitely has a lot to do with my teenagers pissing me off. Why 'cause they spend all day on the computer or watchin videos and thus have all this pent up energy in the evenings when I'm trying to relax. When I was a kid we played sport and wore ourselves out and were fncked by the evening ... I still think REAL sport is better than pretend BS games, what is wrong with kids nowadays that choose the computer version over the real thing? Pete
These p.c games with guns and such are a sad commentary on where are youth are headed! Kids play these games and always come out alive and unscathed, so are perhaps condtioned towards violence without repercussions. Kids just dont understand the magnatude of violent acts, while pretending on a computer game.
Just another reason to have more punishments like canings and executions. People see EVERYONE acting without accountability and behave accordingly.
