I'll have to remember..."Everyone can see the toe"..very creative way of calling someone a "Meow Meow"....Mark
Interesting thread (although I didn't have the time nor patience to read every post in the 13 pages). Let me validate some comments I'm about to make. I own a Scuderia, a 599HGTE, Carrera GT, Mclaren MP4-12C, Maserati GT and a few other exotics. One of those "other" cars happens to be a 2009 Nissan GTR which I've owned for four years now. It started life as a stock car and over the years I've upgraded it to its current state with a HKS800 kit. Prior to the upgrades the car more than held its own against all my cars in almost every situation at less than half the cost (now it simply walks circles around all of them). I love all my cars for very different reasons. I understand why many people on a Ferrari forum would frown on a GTR. It's not a Ferrari or Lamborghini nor does it have the prestige, heritage, reputation, or even the looks of the other cars. What it does have is immense performance. That performance more than outweighs any other deficiencies it may have including its appearance, weight, or the name of its manufacturer. It "balances my portfolio" so to speak. As is the case in any discussion of this nature there will always be those who will hate and those who will love. As a long time Ferrari owner I also happen to love my GTR. There's no reason to not respect the car for what it is and to give credit where credit is due. It will never sound like a Ferrari nor garner the respect a Ferrari demands but I didn't buy it for that reason either. Now if I could only find a Veyron to race .... Eddie, just get a V12 vantage and claim to be a bad stick shift driver like me. I have no chip on my shoulder now, just cruising along and mis-shifting here and there...lol Mark, yep..."rationalizing!" and I'll be treating his F430 for abandonment issues soon!
BTW, this thread has grown to 13 pages in just a few days! Can someone do a Cliff Notes summary for me? I only read through page 3 and jumped to the last page, just like the good old days in school! Will
I like the Nissan, but there are worrying aspects; http://www.accidentreconstruction.com/newsletter/sep08/BlackBoxonBoard.pdf
Jeffrey, Excellent post and very well spoken from someone who has had so many great cars, and above all is an excellent driver with so much time at the track as you have. Best, Tony
Will, to boil it all down, every issue Freud could have imagined has presented itself in this thread...really! Except for guns, but the we know what Freud believed a gun represented...and that issue was discussed at "great length" starting around posting #224 on page #12. I am anxiously awaiting your analysis...but that would be better left to a PM or maybe at a bar-b-que sometime in the local mountains after liberal culinary indulgences
Well said! OMG - that Bugatti got smoked! I thought the Bugatti was the fastest street car??? That GTR is UNBELIEVABLY fast!
So I'll feel happier if I get some more guns with long barrels and big bullets? Much less expensive than cars too.
Will, you may need to treat mine too (the F430, not the Scud). The stinking GR-T continues to draw me in and I feel increasingly less able to resist. I'm looking at one this Saturday (same one I looked at a few weeks back). We'll have to see???
Well, Eddie, are you going to join me Saturday? We'll go in and see what it's all about! We may need some defense against Jesse...he was talking big-time tricks for his new GT-R.
Wasn't that a built Switzer GTR? Perhaps if you put (or even could put) the same % of the original value (like 30-50% of the original price of the Nissan?) in mods into the Bug, it would have a better chance
I own a Murcie and a highly modded gtr. The gtr is just sick. You won't believe this Mark but this Sat I'm actually going to Lotus Newport for their IPS Evora showing and test drive
There are a couple of members on this site that have Ferraris and work for the FBI, live how you want but it is not very bright running around trying to commit felonies with people you do not know... Ever see how quick and scared a grown man gets when he has been following an F-car for miles on the freeway trying to race, and then the Ferrari owner decides to show his badge? Your mod list means nothing, if your booked and serving time in general population...
Frankly, who cares. This thread has become ridiculous beyond belief; but then, threads such as this one usually do. It's embarrassing.
+1 If you compare the GTR to a 458 it comes off 2nd best by an extremely small margin. But having said that it far cheaper and amazing bang for your $. I respect the GTR, however a Ferrari it is certainly not.............
You're right!!!...You get MORE than 3-5 years out of a timing belt with the GTR & NO sticky interior, & they DON'T catch on fire, DON'T have to mortgage your house to buy a distributor cap, every "1" isn't RED, etc, etc!!!..Mark
