Good Pics! That was Rob Walker's 250SWB, huh? The one Stirling Moss listened to the radio, while racing.
Isn't the 375 MM just magnificently masculine. While the 250 GTO is so femine looking and beautiful, the 375 MM is an in your face bully that is beautiful in a completely different way. Pete
I agree. I love the early monster engined cars. I actually got to drive a 340MM once. I imagine the 375MM, a 375 Plus, or a 410 would be even scarier!
Would be interested in a quick driver impressions of the 340MM ... if you have the time and can remember. I have this feeling that they would not be as modern feeling as many say of the 250 series ... Pete
Peter Neumark (GB) is the name. Here are some other pics, one from Goodwood and one from the GP Historique at Monaco this year. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Boudewijn - Wonderful photos! Thank you for posting them. The 400I GTO is wild looking! Do you have some further info on the car; and also on the 330 GTC #9317 with the "GTO" look 3-scoops and the hood louvers? Do they suggest a competition usage, or just 'rub-off' competition styling? thanks much james GTC 10313
Hi James, The 400 i has a custom-built modern GTO conception body on 400i Auto chassis with 400 GT manual gearbox and was built for Sir A.Bamford (you know who). The 330 GTC, fitted with 365 engine, was modified in the late 90's by then owner-singer Chris Rea for competition use. The GTO flaps seem to be a more recent addition. Best Boudewijn
Fantastic pics!! Only, a pontoon 250 Testa Rossa is named as GTE 2+2 #3981. I'm by no means an expert, but, is this really correct?
Boudewijn - Thank you again for the information. A 330GTC with competition pretensions! Hope he did some suspension work along with the bodywork....... I like the idea of the "modern GTO" rebody....tho here in the states that would likely cause great gnashing of teeth and recriminations! On the other hand, a 400i; hmm maybe not so much ;--) james
