Pre-race show about to start and race starts in approximately 30 minutes. I will keep the faith in Ferrari and hope that the first turn in relatively incident free (please nothing for the first two cars). GP2 race was pretty good considering 1 & 2 had to start at the back of the grid. I think a good "fresh" choice for replacing Rubens would be Nico Rosberg. Surely he'd be willing to take second seat to Michael to get a F1 ride (unless he's contractully tied to Williams in some way since he's been a test driver for them). Scott Speed set fastest lap but was eliminated from both races this weekend.

So much for an "uneventful" first turn!

Barrichelo into the back of Trulli
Alonso over the inside curb, damaging front wing
Massa into Klien, who decided that the roll hoops haven't been tested enough!
DC collects Mr. Alonso's front wing after it came off, taking him for a wild ride.

Bits of carbon littering turn 1, and also the area where DC met Alonso's discarded parts. Red Bull with a HORRIBLE start, both cars out within a few turns of the start!

Michael and KR are just blistering right now, with Kimi getting by JPM pretty quickly. KR just set fastest lap, also. MS and KR must be on light fuel, or KR is racing his butt off to keep MS in his sights. Wonder how long until MS pits, he must be light on fuel!

Kimi takes back fast lap, with a low 1:21.xxx (couldn't catch the tenths as it came across).

What will be interesting is FA and RB coming back thru the pack, full of fuel, after the wing changes.

    KR pits!

Did you see the angle of Montoya's car at the start - not straight ahead but definitely pointed towards the inside of the track.

Kimi is going a great job - I knew he would be ahead of JPM - there's no way that it could be any other way - team orders most likely.

    What a helluva start.

So much for Micheal's 4-stop strat. Is he on 2? (probably 3, not being ridiculous)

    MS pits!

Boy, so much for the "no fuel on board" theory many of us thought MS was on! Definitaly looks like a 3 stopper. Possible KR is on a 4 stop strategy?

On a side note, interesting to hear that several of the teams ignored the "no tobacco" rules and left the stickers on for the race. I bet we'll hear about that in the next few days!

JPM's strategery may pay off if he avoids backmarkers..

And they're right.. MS didn't capitalize on the extra laps..

Guess that ends, Michael being on a light fuel load compared to Kimi!

Given the temps, MS's 'stones look pretty good.

Way to go MS - the right rear tire looks to be in pretty good shape - hope it holds that way.

    Very exciting race.

JPM pits, coming out just behind KR. Will be interesting to see if JPM can manage to keep in touch with those front 2. If he can, he's in the best position for the win.

Back from commercial, looks like they are pulling away from JPM.

Finally, a true KR vs. MS, head to head! They are putting on a fantastic show! I had planned on watching the start, then going to bed, but I'm gonna stay up for the duration now!

RB runs wide, (EDIT:) Fisichella past him!

Sorry, thanks for the correction. I thought they said Alonso's name.

Wow, that Renault crewman didn't pull the trash out of the way on the stop and he ran it over. Oops. Hopefully that doens't create any problems for him.
