    I realize this is entirely a first world question given the widespread damage and suffering caused by Hurricane Ian, but are we hearing word on damages to any of the vintage Ferraris in the area?

    Well, none of it was in very good condition even before the storm, but I think the IRS eventually did more damage than Charley. I don’t have any idea where the cars are now, or even if Walt is still living.

    Thanks. I’m very glad to hear that. He’ll certainly be safe from hurricanes there.

    I was scheduled to Supervise a disaster relief effort but sections of I75 are underwater making it impossible to get around. Planned to try to get to some FChatters and offer my assistance with the cars. It is going to be a long recovery.

    Okay for our dear friends following along in other lands who may get confused (and as a native Cincinnatian), allow me to address this non-Florida/Ian content;

    Dale/Texas Forever is of course kidding.

    Bruce/375+ is actually right* about Cincinnati in a sense...
    Greek immigrants opened chili parlors in Cincinnati in the 20th Century, the restaurant tradition is popular to this day.
    Skyline Chili is the big chain to spring from this lineage, Gold Star Chili (founded by the Daoud brothers from Jordan, following the Greek model- and quite delicious in its own right) is the major competitor.
    In any of these chili parlors you will find cheese on the chili dogs ('coney islands'), cheese on the plates of chili and spaghetti, etc.
    Grated cheddar cheese is the garnish of choice for all the dishes.

    Lastly, Amerikalei is correct. Cincinnati's 19th century nickname was Porkopolis. At the time, it led the nation in pork processing so the moniker was apt.
    Many German immigrants came to Cincinnati in the 1800's. They brought with them a taste for the finer (working man's) things; pork and beer. In the late 1800's there were more than 400 breweries in the downtown Cincinnati historic neighborhood of Over the Rhine. I'll say that again. Four hundred breweries in one city. Tops in the USA at the time.

    Cincinnati has always intrigued me. It is an old natural city. By that, I mean it is a river town. Human beings started hanging out there for a reason. However, it is part of the crumbling industrial revolution infrastructure. No one would confuse Cincinnati with Silicon Valley. You don't see a lot of Teslas. But it is an honest town. It is a real city. With a little bit of money spent intelligently, it can shine again.

    Very nice art museum there as well. Been awhile since I visited but it generally has a solid arts and preservation community, as well as the University of Cincinnati which has some noteworthy facilities.

    Which is something worth noting about Ohio. Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, not sure about other cities but all three have excellent fine arts facilities. In Cleveland the art museum is located near the Crawford Auto-Aviation museum, which I believe is allied with the Western Reserve historical society. Both are worth a visit.
