Hello everybody. What’s the latest thinking on HVAC panel restoration; I think I need it? My shop disassembled the panel and fixed some broken solders, and that seemed to work for a bit, but now it’s on the fritz again.

It can’t possibly be rocket science, it’s essentially a bunch oh off and on buttons… right? I found a thread from
2014 with the email address of a man who fixed a panel for another member.

    Any leads appreciated!

It won’t stay on. It seems vibration and/or perhaps heat related. Upon start up it works, but after driving it loses power. Sometimes I’m able to poke it and get it to come back momentarily.

I’ve heard about this… is the fuse loose in its holder?

A number of people on here reported problems with the rear electrical connector not fitting very tight especially on early cars. I think they moved the position of the plug on later models to take the strain off the plug. Might want to check that out.

Mines a 93 build, but it does sound like that could be it. I will check!

Commonly it is disassembled and the pins that stack together when reassembling are thoroughly cleaned and that often fixes this issue. Also the female pins may be stretched too wide and not firmly connecting.

If it comes back on if you poke it, its not the hidden fuse as that's is in the front boot but it should be replaced with a glass audio fuse. You can see it in the sticky section.
