Hi guys, I know many of you are very knowledable, so I thought I'd ask.
I'm in Ohio.....pretty cold winters.....I have a 2100 sq ft ranch, open floor plan. I'm getting a new furnace and they are going to put in a Carrier 2 speed 93% efficent furnace. On the HIGH speed it's 74000 BTU's and 50000 on low speed.......the tech was pretty adamant that's all I'd need, but the next size up gave me 90000BTU's on high and 70000 on low.....I'd like to go with that and it would only cost me 200.00 more.....but he was pretty adamant that the bigger one would be too big.......any ideas.......50000 btu's on the low speed just sounds like nothing.......

Not enough info.... It depends on the heat loss of your home(how well it's insulated). It's always better to size the unit so it runs continuously on the coldest day. That way it's the most efficient. Hopefully he did the calculations/estimates correctly. If you're planning on additions to floor space in the future, I might go the one size larger.
