1998 355 F1 spider. HVAC system simply stopped today. No interior fan. No AC. Nothing on the HVAC control panel is working. Fuse (#25) is fine. I do not see any relays in this circuit. Hidden fuse (whatever that controls) is fine. Pulled the HVAC panel and cleaned the contacts. Looks good. Still nothing. Ideas?
you could try the reset. Disconnect battery and unplug the A/C ecu. Reconnect the plugs, turn on battery, turn A/C on and then just turn ignition key on without starting the car and see if a/c comes back on. You should hear the motors resetting. If does not work try steps again. I did this and got my recirculation flap motor to work but needed to do the reset twice.
Nope. It's an ECU in the front bonnet. Need to remove carpet to get at. (Now, before anyone shoots me for "guessing", I'm basing this off the 95 - check to see if the 98 is in the same location as the 95 before using this advice)
Hidden fuse blown. Fans back now. No AC though. No clutch engagement on the compressor...at least I cant hear it.
Under the carpet in the front. R/H side of the air intake box. If yours is original, replace it with a tube style 30 amp holder. They melt & blow and make a damn mess. Ill try and get a picture tomorrow unless someone else beats me to it.
Don't post a picture of the "hidden" fuse ....... ... half of us love scratching our heads and making funny faces at ourselves
Mine is operational. A/C is TBD as it is snowing here now. I'll test later. It seems to me that the HVAC system really only works correctly with the engine running. Trying to diagnose with key position II will give you false results. Pics of hidden fuse when I get a moment.
