I'm a big fan of the sports prototypes, especially of the late sixties and early seventies. So it was sad that GMP would not be able to release their version of the 512S.

Instead, I bought the Hot Wheels version, but some details didn't appeal to me that much, so I decided to upgrade them.

I bought the Nick Mason version and set out to make it as it raced at Silverstone in 1999.

    I changed the following details:

    - new wheels (BBR) and tires (GMP) on home made axles and wheel nuts,
    - lowered the front ride height,
    - removed some decals and re-did the race roundels with race#7,
    - replaced and repositioned the windscreen wiper,
    - removed the tow hook in the nose (I know, the real one has it, but I didn't like it),
    - replaced the headlight covers (no red painted edges!)

Overall shape is still a bit stubby, but the result has worked wonders IMHO. I hope you like it as well.

    Best, Peter

That looks very good! What did you do to lower the front ride height?

It looks muche better with these wheels, but the shape of the car is really too fat. The real car was much more thin, GMP proto was right... it's a shame that the moulds are lost!!

Sorry for the late reply. I used a hobby tool to take some material off the upper A-arm and used a small nut on the lower A-arm. See picture.
