I don't think that Hyrbrids are not the final word on solving the energy crisis. I think the soloution lies in more fuel efficient conventional internal-combustion engines and maybe eventually alternative fuels such as bio-diesel, hydrogen, or methanol. Personally I would never want an electric/hybrid Ferrari, it just wouldn't be the same even if it still looked good.

I read Simmons article in WORTH and I was extremely unimpressed with his conclusions. He states that when oil becomes rare humans will peacefully throttle back on our consumption & International trade will essentially cease. What an IDIOT !!!!!!!!

The Chinese, Roman, Egyptian, Spanish & British Empires all conquered the world & engaged in enormous international trade long before the dawn of the internal combustion engine.

Simmons completely fails to provide any alternatives to oil, like hydro, geo thermal, wind, nukes, solar

Methanol, aside from being the glittering prize in the eyes of the Sierra Club, does not seem long term friendly.

When Rutan built his Pond Racer airplane for the Reno air races, methanol was his choice fuel, however; after each race the fuel system had to be flushed and cleaned because methanol attacks rubber and some metals. He was using nothing more than two Nissan V6 blocks off of the Maxima and 300Z to produce 1000hp with turbo compressor assist. Methanol would be a nightmare for fcar owners, for a car that already demands frequent maint.
With methanol, you use more to get any useable power from it making frequent fuel stops a new fact of life.

Hopefully, as said a few posts back, Ferrari will ride the wave until something other than this 'soccer mom' fuel continues to power Ferrari to success.

I like my V12 Ferrari. I could care less how much gas I burn. One of my partners drives a Prion. I joke with him and tell him I use his share of gas and oil he saves. It must be agonizing to drive around in a piece of crap like.
When oil and gas becomes unavailable then I will drive an alternative vehicle unless something comes out faster than what I have now.
