Has anyone heard of anyone doing this to obtain a carbon fibre look to their car? Here's a link to a company in Minnesota that's apparently done a 2010 California. http://www.getdipping.com/Home.aspx Love to hear your opinions. RSS
Wow! You could REALLY have a "wooden F50" if you wanted it.... !! Interesting process - I'd love to see the results on a car in person. Jedi
Only if you can allow the whole car (or disassembled body pannels) to be emersed into water as explained on the "about hydrographics" page.
Should have been clearer...sorry I meant doing interior trim parts....yeesh, trust you guy to take things literally. ;-))
Was thinking of using them for refreshing my 308's bumpers. Just to refresh the matte black finish, nothing crazy. Phil
Here are the results. Definitely lacks the depth of real carbon fiber, but if you're only interested in the appearance, and not the weight savings, or like me, can't afford the real stuff, this is a great alternative. Overall, I'm really pleased with the results. Looks great. What is the cost in $ and time? What investment in equipment or can you use a bathtub for dipping? With the outstanding results you obtained, this can be quite a standard upgrade treatment and really catch on.
Actually, it was very inexpensive. Less than $2k for everything. And they had one of their graphics guys print the horse on the tach. Took them one weekend to do the pieces. In person, it looks much better than the pictures. I love the red on the shifter and the rocker panels. I have real carbon fiber air intake boxes and seats and although I can tell the difference between the real stuff and the hydrographics, in my opinion, the real stuff isn't worth it for me. All in all, I'm very happy with the results. RSS
