Given the choice to own two of the four 918, F150, P1, HUAYRA. Decided by Allocating 1 point of equal weight to the following criteria: Probable Performance Userbility Emotion Quality and pride of ownership. Body shape design. Price. With what is already known , which two would you choose?
only one of this cars give true emotion including screaming sound of exhaust, rest of them is just turbo crap which sounds as good as Camaro F70 is in different league, a truly hypercar, rest is just immitation, Ferrari make a brilliant and brave decision to defend from all this eko emission propaganda and they don't put turbo inside of new car, I'm glad about Lamborghini too, they declared to not put turbo in their future cars
P1 as I like Race Cars For The Road. Huayra as HP is building cars to a level that no other company is. 918 as this one will work flawlessly. F70 with it's V12 doesn't interest me. If it was TTV8 it would.
As awesome as the Pagani is, it doesn't quite seem to be in the same league as the F150/70, the P1 or the 918. It is down by nearly 100 hp to the other three (much more in the case of the Ferrari and P1) and weighs more than the others as well. What Pagani has built is the rare vehicle that is just a (slight) step past the F12....but costs significantly more. But based on the criteria you have outlined my answer would be... Ferrari F150/70 Pagani Huayra I am not a fan of the McLaren brand so even though they produce extremely capable vehicles I would never consider one over a Ferrari. The Porsche is a beautiful car (especially in some of the race inspired livery) but it seems to be a notch below the F150/70 as well. Curious as to why the Koenigsegg Agera is not included in the choices? It seems much more closely related to the new batch of hypercars.
interesting and early days, i am expecting more posts aka post 2 from the non buyers. Personally i have two of the four cars ordered, not saying which but look forward to hearing the ferrari communities 2nd choice car.
I apologize for telling the truth, I changed my mind, Huayra sound very similar to Zonda and P1 sounds as good as Carrera GT, Now I'm cool?
I would say it is actually the opposite. The Pagani is in a league all of its own. The Huayra is a true hand-made car built with almost ridiculous attention to detail. Each car is bespoke according to how the customer wants it. Exclusivity is greater than all the others. The materials used to make the car are of higher quality and more exotic than all the others. (As far as I know, Pagani is the only manufacturer using carbotanium) You mention HP as a drawback, but we're only talking about a 50 HP difference, which in a turbocharged car is a very simple thing to correct, especially a twin-turbo V12. I am sure torque numbers are much greater than the F150.
You miss the point. Emotionally some will not consider anything but an F car and thats fine. My question was to try to get a level headed and well considered second choice using viable criteria. As opposed to dismissing what are clearly capable hyper cars out of hand.
OK, I hope that you ordered only one turbocharged car and I hope you will have a lot of fun with both of them
Ferrari will use T1000 carbon in their car which is pure F1 stuff and of course the F150 and the P1 are hand made too (sometimes that is not that great though, that's why they have that Romeo and Juliet machine for the tricky engine bits)! Also, a 200 BHP difference, with the same weight, is nothing to be stiffed at...
That's a matter of opinion. A mate of mine got out of an F40 saying what an awful car it was, even compared to a 430 Scuderia, not to mention an Enzo.
Can you explain me why old turbocharged F40 sounds pretty good and Huyara sound so bad? (It's not only my opinion, Zonda owner has said that people from Pagani factory are also dissapointed about Huyara sound )
It seems that this is a question that is a bit to early to ask since we have no idea of the Ferrari's looks or specification
Good and bad are relative but one thing for sure is that the end product is the creators vision. In many ways it wins in others perhaps not but you seem intent only on focusing on what you believe are shortcomings.
You are right, but exhaust sound of Huayra was not Horacio Pagani idea but bad effect of compromise, this compromise is about ecology and performance.
And many would prefer no Kers in both P1 and F150 with the weight savings however this is 2013 not 1990 when even the later F4O'S were compromised with cats. Time moves on , like it or not. You may not prefer the sounds of some of these cars but they are bang up to date and just perhaps the woosh of turbos is a little exciting?
There is still many people for whom sound is still important factor, I hope that despite growing trend with turbocharged engines, car manufacturers will still build some naturally aspirated cars, It will be bad world if we will can heard screaming sound of exhaust only from Yamaha motorcycle
Oh dont get me wrong i love a screaming V12 , i have an F50 , probably the best sounding Ferrari yet. But i like classical music as well as jazz, rock and rap.
