We just finished installing Hyper-Flow cats on 2006 F430. Good installation, quality product. Car already had a capristo installed, the hi flow cats really made the car bark, not an annoying noise but loud and deep at idle with a real scream at the hi end. The owner said he could feel the increase in power and response. Pictures as follows 1. Mask off rear end to prevent paint damage when removing tips. 2. stock cats with capristo, tail pipes removed 3. stock cat, muffler removed. 4. stock and Hyper-Flow cats. 5.Hi flow cats on, no muffler. 6.Cat showing rear O2 sensor location and installation 7.Hi flow cat with muffler on. I will try to get a video/sound clip uploaded in a couple of days. As far as the warranty I was told it should not affect it because it is still CA legal. It is better for the car because of the decrease in weight and heat. Without putting more than a few miles on it yet I am really happy with the upgrade. The sound is more 360ish now, I would say it is in the middle of a stock 430 and a 360 with a Capristo3. I like it much more than the stock deep canny sound. It now has some of that higher pitch F1 sound. As far as the power gain you can definitely feel the gain right away. I was told there would be a gain of about 30 to 40hp give or take, and based on the seat of my pants feel I would guess on the upper end that. Damian will try and get a sound clip soon.
I put them on my 430 as well. I also used their by pass exhaust with the muffler still in place but it really isn't used. It made a real big difference in sound. It is much louder which is what I wanted and it screams when you rev it up. I want to take it out with a couple of the guys and see how they like it.
I assume by your post that this is your car. Is it now too loud ? annoy everyone. Does it drone in any rev range in the cabin ? Thanks.
Can this cause CEL issues? Also, I have read somewhere that high flow cats are not as durable as the "regular" cats. Would these cats have a shortened life span? And finally, what is the cost including installation.
no check engine light problems, look at installation of rear O2. Engine ECU is only looking for a difference in the readings between the front and rear O2 sensors, not a specific value from the rear sensor as it does with the front sensor. Parts cost is about $3150.00, and instalation take about 5-6 hours, (Diffuser, R+R, engine lower pannel R+R, exhaust R+R, etc) so depending on installer depends on cost. I didn't do a detailed time study on this car as it was the first Hyper-Flow system made, but i think these numbers are a ball park figure.
As the largest reseller of HyperFlow's, I have spoken extensively with them about this particular F430 (above), the test fitting, the CEL issues, warranty stuff, etc. If I can offer a few tidbits of information: * They flow nearly 10% more air than other high flow F430 cats on the market. Flanges and welds, are of impeccable quality. * Technically, it is not permissible to remove working catalytic converters from any car within the federally mandated emissions warranty period. For non street use however (track stuff), it is acceptable. Like all Hyper-Flow products, the F430 cats are an ideal street-ready replacement if your OEM Ferrari unit has failed from an emissions, slow-down, temperature, etc. perspective. Hyper Flow cats are designed from the beginning to pass emissions tests in all 50 states including the dreaded California CARB and the UK's MOT. * Hyper Flow makes no specific statement about how their product will affect Ferrari NA warranty coverage. Detailed interpretation of their warranty should be left to qualified lawyers. It is my current understanding that other vehicle manufacturers have been unsuccessful in denying coverage because of a post-manifold component. * Although under-body stuff does need to be removed during the fit process, they are "plug and play" units, and include all the F430 specific bungs and hardware necessary. * In terms of durability, these new F430 cats obviously don't have the real-world miles that other Hyper-Flow products have endured, but I can firmly state their warranty coverage is outstanding and they're so fanatical about quality (and their reputation) they'll go to amazing lengths to ensure happy customers -- long after the purchase. * The cats are going into full production in the next 10 days, and will be available for customer delivery by December 1. I'd certainly welcome any questions. I speak with Hyper-Flow on a daily basis, and will undoubtedly have the first reseller units that roll off their production line. -Daniel
I've installed hyper flow cats on my 360. The quality is beyond impeccable .. they are works of art. I had a question about something on them and Troy called me from his vacation to make sure all was okay. You don't get better than Hyper Flow. Ray
Excuse me...did I understand that they may start making mufflers??????? My car is going to become a fixture at your shop. We'll have to install some kind of quick-disconnect on my exhaust manifolds to save time.
Sorry I dint understand the issue with the No Check Engine. Can someone explain to me why it doesnt have Check engine light problem?! Also something more.. What if I buy this exchaust and place instead of the cats, free pipes... with lamda sensor ?!
No, I can assure you that's not going to happen. Hyper Flow and Ricambi have something far more sinister up our sleeves. It's a joint project Troy and I have been working on for several months. We're still a bit away from the launch, but it'll be pretty damn cool. -Daniel
The car is not yet broken in fully. Will dyno it and a stock F430 when we have some miles on the car.
can you give us a hint..make the car go faster..sound better..combination of componets and upgrades..package systems..????
can someone PM me with their details on buying a capristo exhaust , different levels and prices thanks
Try HGparts, They are a sponsor and that is who I have used. They are in Germany and will ship directly to you. Hope that helps.
The hyperflows are much more durable and wll easily outlast the factory cats (I can't spead to the 430, but they are crap on the 355). This is a replacement cat, same function, same sensors, just much higher flow rate through the catalyst segment. So no check engine light.
