Was watching the Magnum PI Season One DVD's last night (which are great, with some minor technical glitches) and I laughed myself off my chair during the 'Missing in Action' episode. I hadn't seen this one in 23 years or so...

In the course of one of their normal feuds, Higgins tells Magnum that he should get the Ferrari "tuned up" since he's using it all the time. Magnum says he's "added a quart of oil and checked the air in the tires."

(Sounds like the pre-sale 15K service from some non F-dealers, but I digress...)

Higgins is adamant. Magnum starts to think then finally, on a whim, asks him how much a tune up costs on a Ferrari. Higgins gets this priceless smirk and walks out of the room. The rest of the episode gets even better, although there's some missing black paint on the car's driver side quarter panel that I can't believe slipped through on national TV.

(Yes this is how I spend my Sunday afternoons, instead of staring at the empty space in my garage while the hunt continues.)

I remember that one he gets T.C. to do the tuneup then Higgins finds out and ask T.C. if he is certified to work on ferrari's and since he's not he tells Magnum that if a non F-car certified mechanic works on the car it voids the warranty and Higgins then takes the keys away.

Is that the episode where Magnum winds up in a Jag e-type that bellows black smoke everywhere?

No, he ends up driving a sputtering, smoking, coughing 308 around. Very funny (especially since it's not mine.)

T.C. charges Magnum $50 for the tuneup, Magnum doesn't have the cash and has to borrow $10 from T.C.

Some of the series is a bit dated, but parts of it are worth the price of the whole set.

Anyone who can rebuild a helicopter engine should have no trouble with a 308. Remind me not to fly with T.C. anymore!

Nah, as soon as he got paid the $50, he did a quick fix and the car magically ran fine again!

Seems like I remember TC telling him that there is too much unnecessary junk in those things.

Yep. And Magnum telling him "a spark plug is a spark plug." Thanks, I'm still laughing!

LOL This is what I love about this site knowing I'm not the only nut who watches a T.V. show obsessively because of a car!

Always fun seeing Magnum speeding off and kicking those dirt up at the intro. when the music came on.

Magnum without commercials is worth the price of the DVD sets. Anyway, I don't know if my company would offer flexible work arrangements just so I could watch an '80s show in syndication at 3PM on a weekday.

I got my second season set from amazon.com last week just before I left on vacation. I was actually looking forward to getting back to watch them. F-chat and Magnum are kind of my training for future 308/328 ownership.
