Can someone tell me the pros and cons on the 1992" vs the 1994 VT besides it being all wheel drive?

How hard are parts to get for them?

    Any info please!

    Thanks!

92 has manual steering. (I think this is very positive)!

The chain tensioner on the 94, has been updated, along with the dash.

Parts is probably not a problem with the early cars. Make sure your 92 car, has had the updated chain tensioner, taken care of. Also check and make sure the catalytic convertors, are functioning correctly. I have heard a few comments, that they have become inoperable at times.

Other than those issues, the 91/92/93 cars, are amongst the lightest and fastest of the series.

So do the Lambo's have 4 O2 sensors? What if I delete the cats? Would I throw a check engine light? Can I put O2 simms on it? With no cats will it sound good?

Where can I pick up a nice exhaust system?

Please tell me all. on a 1992 with about 20K miles...what would be a fair price range?

Where can I get black carpet for the Diablo? Sorry for all the questions....

You need to talk with a mechanic about the engine light. I do (believe) that you will have a check engine light issue, if you remove all of the cats. This is an issue with some cars. However I do not know, if it also applies to the 92.

A fair price ? I would assume the car should be somewhere within the 75K range +/-. It depends on # of services, # of owners, condition of paint and interior, originality, condition of clutch, were the updates taken care of, does everything work ?, location in the country, # of kilometers (you mentioned 20K miles), who is selling it, complete books and tools, and documentation.

A nice exhaust ? Check with SP Engineering. Yes it will sound good, and haul ass.

Actually I have a black/red/tan custom mats for a Diablo, that will fit your car, with the Bull motif. They are very hi-end, and may work for you, if you have interest.

if I get this car, I need the entire carpet on the inside to be black...

Is there a big difference in reliabilty on the 1992 vs the 1994?

The 92 and 94 car should be about the same, as far as reliability.

The 94 car, had the factory updated chain tensioner. Hopefully the 92, has already had this as well.

(I also forgot that the 94 is awd). This is added weight and less fun.

The 92 car is more visceral.

92 is pretty bullet proof. No power steering - some like, some don't.

94 has AWD and front lift system which can be spendy if it fails.

92 should be checked for tensioners..if manuf after Sept, they have it, otherwise retrofit it. Also the OEM supplier of head gaskets to Lambo had defect on some gaskets and easy to blow head gasket. One time fix to remedy. Check to see if done by previous owner. If fails, overheat, water in oil, etc etc.

92 is OBD1, only 1 sensor per cat. Can do exhaust without throwing C/E light. Tubi, Quicksilver, etc.. many options including no cats or free flow cats.

Price for clean car with service history IMHO is mid 90's to low 100's.

Do a PPI no matter what the seller says.

    i echo frankie's sentiments.

my 92 diablo was practically bulletproof. had no issue whatsoever during its tenual. fwiw, according to my good friend AJ, all 91/92 and 93 were manufactured at the same time.

if you choose to go with the later model year, my recommendation is to NOT use the front lift syste. i never had any problem with it in my diablo roadster but that's because i never need to use it. however, my orange 6.0 just had two brand new front shocks replaced last week at a cost of close to 5k for both parts and labor (they run around $1900 a piece before labor).

frankie has a lot of intimate knowledge about these earlier diablo models. he is a good asset. i'd strong suggest you seek out his resources. best luck to you.

    Hi,
I have a 92 Diablo. It has 42,000 miles. I put 6,000 on it the last 3 months. It runs great. My car has no cats and it sounds SOOOOOO GOOOOOD. I have no trouble with the check engine lights they only come on for a second when I start the car. My only complaint is the clutch is so hard I've been going to acupuncture since I got it.

In my opinion, the 91/92/93 D cars, are the best performance bargain in the entire Italian exotic car world.

Where can you find a true Italian 200mph exotic for under 100K ? In many cases, you can find an excellent driver for 75K+/-.

so would you consider a 1992 with 19K miles and recent clutch change a good price at $88K? Where can I get new black carpet for the Diablo? Not floor mats, but the carpet itself.

if it were me, i'd look for a good local ulphostery man and have him source the carpet and replace it for you. i have my ferrari(s) interior carpet replaced by a local legend "ace auto fabric" and frankly, his workmanship is 100 times better than the original

That is what I was thinking is getting a local shop to do it....just wanted to see if there was a place to get it OEM.

Are there many sites out there that sell interior upgrades such as carbon fiber?
