unlike another popular thread going at the moment, i am having withdrawal from ferrari driving. i am 3 weeks into a 4 month driving ban. i planned on it for these months since it is unlikely i would be driving that much during the winter anyway. BUT, in reading through fchat tonight i have a real yearning to get up early and take something loud out of the garage and go for a ride before anybody wakes up. but i cant. so enjoy your time in the seat boys because you dont know how much you need it until you cant have it !!!
not again. just the once. but i had originally hired a good lawyer, and he got it deferred till this time.
Oh, damn, Ross, I was just joking about that, I didn't realize you actually did lose your license. I thought you were talking about putting your car away for the winter, as I will be doing very shortly. Did you post a thread about what happened?
Where you KPH's 3 over the posted? Enthusiastic driving on an windswept island that allows importation of some of the worlds best performance cars should be expected, blasphemy!!
Switzerland is an island? When did I miss that? Did I miss my chance to buy beachfront property in Zurich?
Ross, they make a medicine for that... Skiing. It helps in small but intense doses. That, or a Motorcycle.
It's gotta be worse when an F40 is sitting in the garage. I have withdrawals as well but I haven't driven in 3 weeks because of the weather.
Ross, sorry about your license issues. Go skiing. The rainy weather in NY is killing me. I hope to get in a few days of driving before the winter. The mountain by my ski house may open next week.
If you want I'll pick you up, I have no problem taking my baby out in any weather. Where's the Chalet?
Sorry to hear that Ross, but I have the solution. Fly to Scotland on a Tuesday morning. After a brief tour of the city and a preparatory cup of coffee, I'll strap you to the roof of a Brazilian pizza delivery driver's car for a the busy Tuesday night shift. This guy really is quite vigorous behind the wheel and is always keen to undertake the most death defying manoeuvres, the likes of which mere mortal men dare not even consider. He is especially brave in heavy rush-hour traffic. I guarantee an adrenaline rush so extreme that it will leave you wanting nothing whatsoever to do with cars for quite some time afterwards. By the time your therapist (sorry, can't help with arranging that one) has healed your mental wounds, your driving ban should have expired and you might be ready to try the F40 again. Or you could go for the tame option and take the advice of those other guys to go skiing. Well... you know how to reach me. All the best, Andrew. PS: You'll need to bring a jacket and some eye goggles. It's gotten cold and the road gritters have been out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes,I remember your saga,Ross. Don't feel too bad about not driving your Ferrari,I don't even get to see mine for month's on end. They live 1000 miles/1600Klms away from me and running a busy buisness,it's too hard to hop on a jet at the whim of going for a drive. I have a great wrench and a trusted mate who both take them out every now and then.
i will be going skiing shortly. both up and down. and yes it does replace the need for speed to a degree, but i am more of a backcountry type of skiier so its about the powder and the solitude - no noise i should also travel some more - i can drive anywhere i want except switzerland. so my wife is not thrilled that she is the one that has to drive the truck to the mountains every weekend. as for exercising the beasts, my dad arrives here for xmas in a couple weeks and i will have him take everything out for a little warm up - but thanks for your offers . actually if any of you do come through here, i would probably have you do the same, so let me know.
i Love The glacier express- beautiful scenery and Great Food- maybe you think of using that in exchange for The Time Beeing
went to the optional psych course to shave off 1 month of the penalty. so 3 months now instead of 4, and 1 down so 2 to go. dad coming into town in 10 days, so he can run the herd before xmas.
Ross sucks that it's taking so long... making me question if I ever want to move back to Switzerland..
Better 4 month ban then 1 year in jail. Sunday evening in July, late afternoon on 4 lane interstate around Chicago,no traffic within 1/4 mile, dry nice weather,in S63 TT going 101mph (Illinois still adheres to 55 limit here, unlike all the neighbor states). Got caught with a instant on Lidar (laser),Class A Misdemeanor, equal to Domestic Violence,Battery,DUI and posession of narcotics. $2500 fine AND 1 year prison in our bankrupt state. Have a good lawyer too, still fighting it, will not go to jail, just screwed up driving record and God forbid if I get caught speeding even 10 miles over. Btw,average speeds on that stretch of I-294 are between 80 and 90mph,way over the limit and that includes trucks, minivans and Prius hybrids...... Cops just pick and choose as they like, usually pricey cars. If you ever come to this God forsaken state you better watch yourself......
