Ok ... I have done the reading within this forum and last year I changed from the stock gear oil to redline 75w/90ns. This change did make a small improvment in shifting, but nothing worth writting home to mom about! Today I took the plug and ordered the redline superlight weight and friction modifier. I should have this stuff sometime late this week or early next week ... I'll make the change and post the results.

My car is a 94 spider with 57K ish miles and the original unmodiied tranny. I have the typical cold shift issue with 2nd gear, and a slight notchyness when shifting fast at high RPM's through the gears when warm ... normal rpm ****ing is fine when warm.

There seems to be quite a split in what people are using, and the results they are getting. When I put the ns into my car, people where raving about how good it was ... I have not had that experience ... better yes, but nothing like butter. Now I am gonna try the shockproof ... everyone claims that is the cats meow ... I'll be the judge of that soon enough

Someone should put a survey up ... all the different gear oils and the results ... that would be a worth while survey!

Problem is most hold to their views on oil like they do on the type of women they like. It took a lot of pushing to get me to try Royal Purple for one of my race engines the first time. Same with adding Redline to the 348 gearbox. It was kind of like when I switched to Asian women, will never go back again and could not believe I wasted my time with the other brand ;).

I am not sure what was in mine prior, but I switched to the RedLine 75W90NS and noticed a major difference. There is the odd time that it isn't pefectly smooth, but most the of the time it is and I am satisfied. I would like to know the comparison between that and the Shockproof, which I hear is excellent.

I went with the Redline MTL (GL-4) in my 348 and it was really a big improvement. The second gear shifting was not super slick when cold, but it would go with a little effort and a slow shift. Once warmed up all the gear shifts were awesome!
