After owning several Ferraris that would overheat when the temp is over 75F and have A/Cs that felt more like someone blowing cool air through a straw, I always thought of them as fair weather car... well today went out for a spirited run to warm up before doing the oil change. Here is the actual outside temp (not heat soaked). Car ran cool, the cabin was perfect temp and the engine always willing to hit 8.5K rpm. I have to say... I am impressed!

I drove mine in the Vegas heat all the time and it never had a problem. The modern heating and cooling systems are a marvel.

My Maserati has a Delco system. It's probably the best AC I've ever had in any car (better than the F430) and hasn't given me one bit of trouble or needed maintenance in 10 years.

    Another "Italian car myth" debunked!

I just have to ask. So which Ferrari's have less than steller AC systems?

...are you serious? Have you driven anything older than 355 in hot weather? 308 have a switch marked A/C but it's really only cools the knee of the driver, 328 is incrementally better, 348 A/C computer goes out and the electric fan relays fry b/c of too much current draw, also the recirculation flap door motor breaks, so draws outside air. TR fan switch fries if you use half speed and the vent system poorly located. Even the 456 is stretched over 95F and it will start overheating in stop-go traffic. Maybe my definition of hot is different than yours...

I seldom agree with Jeremy Clarkson, but his assessment of old Italian car A/C as being like an asthmatic mouse blowing on you through a straw is spot on when talking about my Daytona's AC.

My 308's AC is essentially useless at anything above 85F; below it puts out a respectable flow of cold air and that's good here in TX, where the sun can be quite intense even if the outside temp isn't so hot. Got to be thankful for the small blessings.

I've been driving it some in the current 100+ weather here; the water temp will occasionally get up to around 220F in city traffic but doesn't go beyond that.

I think the 360 and up have good AC. Older than that I think it's questionable to utterly embarrassing.

I used to feel the AC in a Dino was simply a marketing gimmick!
