    I have always loved the AN2, a huge beast that is a perfect bush plane, Just awesome...



    Does anyone have any experience with one? Why doesn't the FAA allow them to be imported and flown??

    There's one that makes the airshow tour around north Texas, or at least has in the few years. It's an awesome sight.

    My perfect life would be to buy one of these and move to South America and fly cargo and tourists into remote jungle towns and live off the land... Or maybe fit it with floats for very remote jungle villages.

    Life isn't getting any shorter,

    A lot like a SeaBee, very easy to remember airspeeds (Vx,Vy, cruise, descent, landing) since they are all the same, SLOW.lol

    You could definitely 'rough it' in the back-country.

    AN2's made in Poland are OK. Russia, etc., not for profit, only experimental,

    From Wiki:

    "...nearly all western nations (the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, etc.) prohibit the use of the An-2 commercially, despite its obvious potential as a bush plane and parachute aircraft. This is because the aircraft has not been certified by the relevant national aviation authorities, which limits its use. These restrictions vary by country, but all prevent the An-2 being used for any 'for profit' purpose, with the exception of the United States, where An-2s imported since 1993 are limited to experimental certification & Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 21.191,21.193,21.195,91.313,91.319,[8] but PZL-built An-2s are exempt from this restriction due to a bilateral agreement with Poland."
