I'm interested in a 308, why a 308? Well it may be that I watched too much Magum PI, or it could be that they have a very nice shape, or that they are "affordable" .

    Someone here posted this link:

    http://www.maranellomotorsport.com.au/displayCar.asp?c=11

And I've also seen this one:

    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!csc_vehicle_photos.carsales_private_photo?photo_id=1468336&selected_pid=1468336&vehicle_id=3345236&pid=1468336&pid=1468343&pid=1468363&pid=1468379&pid=1468389

How fast would the 85 GTSI be? 0-100 in 7 or 8 secs ?

How expensive are they to run? I've been asking around and minor services are about $600 ? and timing belt changes are about $4K ?

Do they break often? Are they fragile tempremental cars?

I've to find out lots more information on the car, including construction all the different years etc, any recommendations for good websites? Books?

    Thanks.

i think everyone here will say buy the blue one...

as with any older car their reliability reflects their maintenance and use. general costs may be a little higher than standard cars, but deferred maintenance costs a lot more.

btw these are just general car notes, i've never even been in a magnum car, i just want consultant status like pap. :p

firstly, that blue one is a HOS :D

second, the reliability of these cars can be reflected in the use I just had of my 84 QV which I have driven from Melbourne to Gold Coast and recently from GC to Hobart and back including 2 trackdays and lots of sightseeing.

I used 6 litres of oil (PP uses no oil in his 355 for obvious reasons) no water and who cares about the fuel.

The car stopped once at the Wrestpoint casino and wouldn't start (this turned out to be a Bosch relay for the fuel pump - $12)

I have had the belts on my old GT4 changed twice by the Ferrari dealer in Qld for $750 each time and the second time I handed him the tensioner bearings which were $180 each to save the additional $800+ bill they would have stuck me with for the same bearings with a Ferrari wrapping

These engines are basically bulletproof and provided you get a 2v engine that has had the sodium valves replaced or a QV engine which does not have this problem all you need to remember is to have the plugs changed every 10k kms, oil changed every 5k kms, diff/gbox oil changed every year and run nothing but distilled water in the radiator.

Never skimp on the servicing, it WILL come back to haunt you but make sure you get the right mechanic to look after your car as a bad mechanic can make your Ferrari experience a nightmare and a good mechanic can make your dream enjoyable.

Send me a PM and I can help you out a little more if you want

like anything if its abused (like moretti) then its stuffed, if its looked after, loved, pampered and adored (like me) then its great, thats not to say that the ferraris out there with 2km on the odomteter from new are any better, these things need to driven and on a regular basis, if going for a coffee with the latte set id driving then buy a WRX. if you want a spirited drive and want to know what life is about then buy a ferrari. it becomes a disease where by 1 is never enuf and you will always want more.........like me

:p will start later this week. good news is i know my way around everything now so it will be much faster. that, and 2/2 is *much* more interesting than 1/2 so requires very little editing.

gf is over in dingoland playing state nutball at the mo so pray i get some done before tuesday when she gets back and all bets/clothes are off (eeew)

    My ears were burning.....

I've given up the hunt of the Koenigsegg and am now looking for the Adelaide netball team.....got a few leads already.

As for these allegations that I emailed certain photos of a certain someone, let me just say she was clothed in the shots......I wouldn't dare otherwise. They won't be making an appearance on FChat though. :)

What a coincidence, my better half returns on Tues (31/10) aswell....maybe we are seeing the same person.
