I will tell you I have had my share or interstate problems but have found that even though Virginia clearly has more troopers the Carolina troopers just cant let you go with a ticket. One minute your pulled over for speeding next thing you know the entire contents of your car are on the hood.

Radar detectors are not illegal to have/own, they are illegal to use :D . I forget the exact wording of the law, but a radar detector is in use if it has access to power (ie a battery or power cord). So, when I'm driving thru VA, I just make a mental note that if I get pulled over, to just pull the power cord, and toss it in the backseat :D. No power guarantees that the detector was not in use.

I've been there once, and don't plan on ever going again. Almost everyone i came across was a total prick or simply odd.

Hmmm.... I've been out of law school for a few years now and my Constitutional Law courses are fading a bit, but this is a bit questionable to me. Traffic is definitely in the purview of states to regulate, not the Fed Govt. I think if this went the other way around, there would have to be a "compelling state interest" otherwise it might be challenged as a restraint of interstate comment. I wonder if there is any constitutional issue the direction this law goes...
Any of you other lawyers on the board remember...?

I don't even think I KNOW what I'm talking about. I meant interstate commerce, not interstate "comment". God, I'm tired...
