Facts: 400 hours TT 50 hours Multi Haven't seen a cockpit in 15 years. Age: 40 something I have just learned that the regional airlines are actively pursuing FOs, and that the minimums have been lowered to an historical low. As I would be pursuing this to fulfill a childhood dream, like so many other aviators, I want to make sure that I get it wright. I went out and picked up my 1st class med yesterday, just to make sure that I could, so my next step is to become current. My concern is this. I figure that I can approach this via two separate avenues. 1) Combine my currency with 50 or so hours of multi time which would then increase my TT to 450 with 100 being multi, time to complete this, aprox. two to three months. 2) Become current, pick up my CFI, build time to 750 TT with little or no further multi time. Time to completion late 2008. This is where I need some informed advice. Which of the above avenues would give me the better shot at an FO job, and two if I were to go with the CFI option, do we anticipate this hiring trend to continue through at the very least 2008. Great to be here.
I was pursuing a career in aviation back in the early 90's. Money ran out and procreated, oops. Now, with the same wife and two daughters later, I have found myself in a place where it is possible for me to pursue my lifelong dream once again.
I wish all the luck in the world, and hope you can full-fill your goal. I am too old and bad health, keeps me from doing the same. GO FOR IT!!!
Welcome to a clan of flightless old birds. I too had to hang up the helmet and goggles after a mild stroke but I have a lot of good memories to look back on. I also got to meet the no mon no fun ogre a while back. Like they say, I've been there,. Switches
