Very cool of you to apologize. Everyone loses their cool from time to time. It's how you deal w/ it afterwards that separates the mature from the childish. Welcome on board!

well i'm 25 i live in waterford michigan, i'm a floor covering installer, i have a girlfriend of 7 years and a 3 year old girl ( awesome) my girl has been going to collage to be a nurse ( she's almost done ) i've been supporting us for the last 7 years and soon she will be able to help. i probably won't ever have enough money to buy a ferrari or even look at 1 so i figure i will be saving my money for a more affordable car ( some type of mopar ) i do love ferrari's / exotics the most but they are way to much money, an older muscle car is much more affordable. so thats about it my life is extremly boring except in my free time i gauk at dupont registry and dream of having some cool cars

buying a ferrari is like getting married. cost of ring is the cheapest part. do what you enjoy, and you will do well. the dollars will come easy.

  7. You might not have a Ferrari, but being 25 is pretty cool. You have time on your side, if you want it bad enough you will get it.

This man is right! Trust me, I've been keeping my eye on older Ferraris...they can be had for less than $30,000. Once I get married, I'll be working off of a teacher's salary...which is not much. But it just may be enough for an older one ;)

Hey Mike I too would like to entend my welcome and sorry we got off to a rough start. My wife is a nurse, it a great profession with mindblowing reward$$$. I'm in the same boat as you - no Ferrari at this point but a bunch of diecast and other goodies, and currently restoring a Testarossa pedal car. We are expecting our first child in July, so are preparing our lives for that. I want to echo modmaki's indication of the affordability of Ferrari....perhaps not right now for you and I, but it IS an achievable goal. I work in the car business and mechanics always rib me 'oh you'll never own a Ferrari' and they don't know how to respond when I tell them of a mechanic like themselves has 2 of them - see Newman in the Boxer and 308 sections. I trust you didn't really mean what you said about me and Canadians - I can and have put it behind us. Lets get on an enjoy Ferraris and the lifestyle! And be sure to roam the board and check out all sections - you and all are most welcome and do post in the Canadian sections.

    Chris

    That is so true!!!

With time on your side, your profession can be very rewarding, you just need to work up to running your own crews and subbing out your guys so you can get off the floor before your knees are gone! :) And start working up some material supply lines so you are not labor only. Many of the flooring contractors I know are into Italian things too, as their materials when they get into the hard tiles come from Italy. Chasing stone in a quary is a great excuse to see the world. Just one of the things I know now that I wish I knew at 25. ;)

Mike I do know at least one guy, sure theres more, he's in his early 30s, has his own hardwood flooring business, and owns a Ferrari 308GT4. IT IS ACHIEVABLE!!!

thanks for all the imput and insperation. for the record my knees are already toast. and as for the running crews and subing out my own work.....it sounds great but with this economy all and i mean all the flooring business are going under and well it isn't really something i like to do or enjoy doing. i just do it to support my family. i love cars mre than well anything except my family. i am in the process of learning everything and anything i can about all types of cars because thats what i love ( i take alot of crap from my friends and girl about my love for cars like why do you talk about cars so much you'll never have anything cool and why do you spend so much time reading and talking cars it's a waste of your time. i just let it go in 1 ear and out the other and keep dreaming / learning. and also i have nothing against canadians to be honest i wish i was a canadian citizen. i hope to talk more with all of you and someday maybe meet some of you. also in the showroom section i looked at the garage section ( where you post pics of your garages ) there is like 150 something pages there and i have spent countless hours scrolling through and let me tell you DAMN some amazing garages.

Impressive MichiganMike - All I can say is your humbleness at 25 is to be admired. You are indeed a rare bird and I'd hire you in a moment based on initiative, conviction and principled...be damned the prideful errors - your learning your way.

You should be doing what you love and - to quote Jimmy Carter - whom I'm no fan - "Go out on a limb, that is where the fruit is."

    Get involved working w/ automobiles!

    Hi Chris,

First, congradulation on the soon to be first born! I have five children and it has been blast for the past twenty-five years of parent hood.

I met Paul Newman at his house this summer and he gave me a ride in his boxer. Both, cars are great and the 308 is better the pictures on his thread. I am restoring my 308 in similar manner as Paul has done. It took me twenty years to purchase my 308 because of children, college, and several homes. I must say there nothing quite like owning a Ferrari. I get the biggest smile on my face every time I step into the garage! Don't give up the dream it is really worth it!!!!

    Regards,
    Alan

You've been to Barrie! Pauls a great guy and an amazing mechanic. Next time you are up bring more and we'll all get together. Theres also an F430 Spider nestled up here that I know very well, plus the occasional spotting.

    Hi Chris,

I throught Barrie was a great city. You are correct about Paul's mechanical abilities. I have learned a great deal from him and without his support I would have had a more difficult time restoring my car. The day I was up there to see him we talked about Ferrari's until midnight and he had to work next the morning. When I come back up there, I will give you and Paul a call!

    Cheers,
    Alan
