What are the best pads for aggressive but not track driving? I am 78 and reflexes have slowed, so I would like something that comes up to temp/speed quickly. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I believe you have those model brake pads and I would go what Ferrari put on the workshop manual... https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Parts/118588/Ferrari?pi=34999
Hard question to answer, as brake feel is quite subjective, and people's street driving characteristics vary widely. The original brake pads were made by ATE, and are no longer made. There are some old stock still on ebay. I have the ATE pads and find the brake feel and performance to be excellent. For hard driving, the brake fluid would probably be more important than the pad. I use the ATEtype 200. ATE used to be supplied by eg. AW Italian which I where I had acquired mine from. They now supply the Textar brand. Textar are OEM for modern Porsches. Brembo became the supplier for Ferrari in the 1990's and as noted are now listed as the official Ferrari factory offering for the older (and newer) cars. Raicam seem to be on offer by various suppliers, they are street pads made in Italy at good pricing. What you want for a street pad is good cold initial bite. Pads with best cold bite (and can also have great high temp performance) are the semi metallic compounds. Lots of full performance pads perform, but the pedal action is hard for around town driving, a true race pad can be scary wooden until they heat up. Other compounds seem to solve for dust and squeel, and typically compromise cold performance in doing so. I suspect you will have to place your bet, and see what works for your situation. Do you know what pads you currently have? You may have glazed rotors if you drive hard, and it may be a rotor turn or change out that gives you better brake modulation regardless of temperatures.
Porterfield compound R4-S was recommended to me by Daniel at Ricambi, he recommended that I not put the Ferrari recommended pads on the car. I put them on all four corners of my Mondial when I had the service done last year. I'm very happy with the performance and significant lack of brake dust on the wheels. It was less than $300 for all four corners from Porterfield including shipping. Alden
My 86 coupe had Porterfield pads on them put on by the previous owner and I found them to perform well.
