Okay I'm being facetious, but when I owned Ferraris we would often make this joke about a middle aged guy in a newer Porsche. I'm 65 now.

So I just acquired a 2015 Carrera S RWD w/manual trans. CPO car with 15K. Reason for 991.1 was they are the last of the NA engines and for now I like a manual in my toys.

The manuals are becoming so much harder to find and I also did not want a sunroof. So after thinking about an early (67-69) aircooled 911 S, I could not justify the expense to get the level of car I would want.

I'm excited for some nice blasts and some travel in it. I haven't heard one thing bad about them except some say the electric steering is a bit off. Not a problem as my 2013 427 corvette convertible has similar feel. It's precise and feels good to me after 3 years, so not worried about it.

I’m middle-aged and back in a 911 (964), after 2 Ferraris and 2 other Porsches. FWIW I think you made a great choice. While each generation 911 has its strengths and flaws, there’s a reason they’re still at the top after 60 years.

Congrats on your new purchase, great looking 911S! So glad you brought up the 427 in your post. I'm selling my F430 and have been bouncing around numerous potential next cars. Both the 911S (09-2016) and 427 are options. Everything I'm looking at is in convertible top. Any thoughts between the 427 vs 911S? This will not be a daily driver, just a fun car to romp around in, occasional errands. Maybe a short overnight road trip here and there.

That 911S does look great. I have a 2014 Cayman S, so same era, and I really think they are great cars. Congratulations!

I will let you know in about a month or so after I've had time the Porsche to give a real opinion. I will send you a PM.

My corvette has some mods: BTR stage 2 mild cam, headers and cold air intake. The heads had the valve guides replaced to eliminate any issues. All done by PO. The car is stupid fast and it is a blast to drive, but I may be moving it on. I really want to get down to one or two cars at most. With the Porsche I'm at four. As I also have two Z3 M Roadsters one in FL and one in NY.

DonV and Bullfighter, Thanks I'm excited to get the car. Drove my friends Cayman a few years ago. He had a 2014 S w/PDK. It was amazing.
