As some people say, it’s much more fun and better to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow.

You nailed it! I laughed at your 'tough' grizzles though - I am 5'2'' and less than 100lbs and have been wrassling my 308 into narrow garages and around hairpins for over 20 years now (which is a polite way of saying I'm no spring chicken!)

FINALLY, in the shop. Its a new shop in Vegas but I've known all the Ferrari techs for years since the Wynn "Batcave" that some of you probably visited years ago. They are also authorized McLaren which the Vegas area desperately needed. McLaren sales are now at the Wynn.

Finally got a chance to look underneath and we all agree its a really good car - well taken care of. Nothing strange or out of the ordinary. Getting a lot of routine stuff done: T belts and oil service mainly. Gotta small oil leak that we need to look at. The throttle is a bit sticky at times.

Tires, brakes, suspension, frame -- all excellent. WHEW!

I'm replacing the door locks and window seals that came with the car when I bought it. I'm having them check every fuel line just in case.

I want to convert the AC from R12 to R134a. But aside from the AC everything else works. I miss driving it already!

Nice car but that Daytona in the background really caught my eye :) Unique color and looks like flared arches with competizione rear rims.

    Good to hear man.

I assume the aircon doesn't work at the moment? Hence you want to change refrigerant to R134A?

It worked for a while and quit. Assume its a lack of gas. In any event it would be an upgrade and increase the value, aside from making it more comfortable in Vegas 5 months of the year.

Cool man, sounds like it has a leak somewhere. :)

But nothing to worry about, get it fixed when you can and enjoy the cool summer in Vegas. :D

Yah but most likely a seal. Can't be a big leak because it held the gas for a long time.

    1) I have never heard of door locks that could not be adjusted, why replacing?

    2) Are converting to R134a just the 3 service ports or does this also change your high pressure limt switch to 365 or 395 psi for hot Las Vegas?
Be sure to add AC UV dye now so leaks are seen later when occur

Ya know, I don't know. But the previous owner bought them on advice of Ferrari of Seattle. I know it was serious whatever the problem was as the locks were not functioning. Both door latches came with the car when I bought it.

Not sure yet about the AC conversion yet but its been done in Vegas. There are questions though. IMO, it can be done.

Ya know I locked up the brakes one time in this car. I was heading into a left hand turn and some idiot decided to move in front of me. Its weird not having ABS but it didn't bother me at all. I kinda liked how the car reacted. Concave wheels mean -- no ABS.

I locked up my brakes one time on the 328 GTB I used to own. No big deal, just flat-spotted the tires a bit. Lol.

I prefer better looking wheels than having ABS.

Well , went over to the shop today and my AC problem is not a little one. The compressor froze so the belt snapped off. I noticed nothing when it happened but evidence of the melted belt was there. So we are going to do the complete AC changeover most likely from the GT Car parts upgrade.

Also they found an incorrect fuel line so we’re going to replace all lower hoses with a kit as well as the fuel filter. One appears to chafe so we will sort that out. Both rear CV boots are cracked with one split already so we will replace those too.

We will do a complete tune. Going to check the valve clearances and put in a new set of spark plugs. Then the complete T belt kit. The mechanic feels the sticky throttle problem is just cleaning and lubrication of the shaft so we’ll try that first.

Someone back in the 80s put on an aftermarket immobilizer so we are going to sort out what they did and remove it. The door latches are going in today and the immobilizer is connected to the wiring in the door latch that triggers the opposite door when it’s locked. The mechanism in the drivers door was worn out.

To replace the window seals the door glass has to come out but both door panels need to come apart anyway for the latches.

So it’s not coming home anytime soon. Most likely Dec. My goal is to get it to run right and reliable, then just due routine maintenance.

Bugger! You can have the original aircon compressor rebuilt if you want to keep it original.

I have never heard of the GT Car parts upgrade? Is that a parts supplier?

And that is the best way to do it mate, sort the car 100% and then it's just basic maintenance after that for hopefully many years after that.

So I don't believe my car will ever be a true "collectible". I'm not so worried about originality but want everything working to its best. GT Car parts is a parts supplier in the US. Been around a very long time. They have stuff like this. Not sure what's in stock though.

Cool man. I agree, I don't think a non-genuine aircon compressor would really matter, as long as the air is ice cold who cares lol

Some people like that originality but.

But all good man, hopefully they have the parts in stock to get it sorted asap for you. :)

My $.02 based on 22 years of 328 ownership, worth exactly what you paid for it:

Do the GT Parts A/C. You can pick the original R12 or 134A when you buy. It won’t help, you’ll still sweat like a pig in Summer. :)

    Use Dave Helms fuel lines.

Get Hill Engineering bearings for your belt service.
