Will you have them remove the fiberglass tub off the chassis?

Yes I was referring to the interior. I visited a shop in Toronto that was restoring a vetroresina gtb and they had completely stripped the car down to the bare chassis and I thought that was a very thorough approach although expensive. On my gt4 I was surprised how many panels were bare metal on the backside.

Don’t know. Once the car arrives at the shop, I’ll get a full report on what needs to be done.

Sorry for the delay in posting on this project. The car has been at the shop being evaluated as to exactly what is needed to be done on the restoration. Fortunately, the car is in really good shape to start, but I want it to look factory new once completed. Also, it has been sitting waiting for a few other cars to be completed for them to start the project. Next week it all begins and they estimate about two months to complete everything. They will start with stripping out the interior and sending the interior parts to the trim shop for leather work. Below is the latest pic. Funny enough, there is another 308 below it. I’ll post pics of the progress.

My first Ferrari experience was in a car with a very similar color scheme, but it was a '76 GTB. The orthopedic surgeon down the street bought it new and had it parked in the driveway. I had nose pressed to the glass when he came out with the trash. He offered me a ride and I of course accepted. We went around the block. He told me that the worst thing about the car was that he had to be going 100mph to put it in 4th gear. I of course believed him.

I decided that day that I'd own one. It's in the garage, where it's been for 20 years.

Happy to say the work has started. Car is in great shape, but the previous owner did a lot of performance upgrades (shocks, big brakes, supercharger, mono alcatara steering wheel, short shift and exhaust. Luckily, everything was bolt on and he kept all the stock parts. Bring all components back to stock. Reconditioning all the suspension parts that can be and adding new what cannot be. Also, doing a full, new, Tubi, including headers. Along with full 30k service and full detail of the engine and engine bay. Interior, replacing headliner, back shelf center console leather and new carpets as well.

Correct Rosie, I was at the factory in Nov '83 and '84, and there were no shields. In '98, they were on all cars except those specifically ordered without them (as I would've done)

You have a very, very clean and nice car. My '78 GTB wasn't that clean when delivered new 43 years ago. Paint was pitted, cracked and had orange peel but that's how they were back then (pre '83 when painting was done off site, or so they said). I laugh and/or get pissed off when people tell me I must have had a cheap repaint done on it. But that's how it was delivered and that's how it will remain.

Great thread and even better story!! love the blue. I even love the gold wheels, and I’m really not a ‘gold wheel’ type of person…

well done and please keep posting your progress.

    best.
