After a particularly bad winter last year I got a Lancer Evolution 8.

What a fun car this is. For the price and the zero percent financing it can't be beat.

    Thanks! Pics soon!

The sales droid was ammused with me.

This is my first car ever with a cup holder, a backseat and air conditioning that works. The rides pretty squishy compared to my other cars. When I got in I said "Wow cupholders" He looked at me like I was nuts. Considering most folks consider the EVO a trashcan lid ride my "Cadillac" comparison probably had them thinking I forgot to take my pills. Might explain why they gave me a good deal.

Edit: The zr1, in theory has cupholders. Due to location of said holders they are more of a place to store the roof rachet.

Until you start replacing parts under warranty from abuse. They take this extremely seriously. I know people who's cars are red flagged and all drive line warranty claims are not honored. They have intake, exhaust, and drive hard. Nothing more. Be good to it and it will do the same to you!

I got 253k out of a stock clutch on an mr2 turbo. I think I'll be okay as I take good care. I don't have any intentions to add anything at all to the car as I read the warrenty horror stuff too. They don't even allow a turbo timer. But, until 100k miles or 10 years its their turbo. I'll still allow for cool down as I care a great deal for my cars.

The break in period is going to feel like being a 17 year old virgin on a porn set. But I'll manage. It'll pay off for years.

Congrats. I went with the 'blue' rally team for my first brand new car. I still remember stopping for gas and staring at it on the way home (yeah, they gave me the car with an empty tank and a coupon for a fillup... at a station that was already closed for the day).

It's fun and a neat accomplishment to get a nice new car. Enjoy it!

Thankfully, for me at least now that I've done it I don't really have the urge to ever buy another brand new car - next time will be used or maybe certified pre-owned.

I sold me EVO when I though Mitsubishi was going out of business. Now it looks like they have stabilized. I actually looked at a new one today. Good time to buy one with the new incentives.

    Be careful out there.

FYI, Mitsubishi is not a new brand. That being the case your car is not "brand new". The term "brand new" came out of the beginning on the industrial revolution when new brands were springing up everywhere, thus the term "brand new". ;) LOL

I'm looking for a car to let my son use, yet I can still thrash at driver events, I'm assuming you looked at an WRX as well. What made you choose the EVO ?

The good deal on financing tipped the balance in favor of the Evo. I was going to get an STI. A base WRX is also a good car but not in the same league.

The steering on the EVO is better then the STI IMO. I negociated the entire deal by e-mail. and got a pretty good price.

It is NOT a car for a young driver. The insurance alone will eat you alive. Not to mention brakes and clutches. I have budgeted several thousand a year for maintence as well. Those race car parts are expensive.

oo nice! Evo in white. I prefer the WRX STI, probably because I cant get an Evo in Canada. But still a great car!
