Ha! Free post... Lol Btw yes, I stated that I'll never own a GTR because of the silly fanboys. And! I think that the Honda Integra is more beautiful than the GTR! (Example) Performance is proportionally relevant! Buy what you like, not the faster/cheaper Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
Some people like faster and cheaper just for GP (general principle). Super cars are like high class women: Sure, she is hot and can make all the right sounds but she may not be the type to get "it" done the way you like it. To each his own.
When I read this, I remenbered seeing this video. See what you think guys? This is what happens when a Nissan GTR driver wants to show what the faster car on the road is. I hope this "driver" is in jail. He could easily haven killed (murdered) an entire family (or much worse) in a head on collision on the wrong side of the road. Pathetic The event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNOJ0R6C88Q The consequence, fortunately no innocent person was killed by this "driver". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXxkNxk85-M
Definitively +1. Most of the GTR owners behave this way. If he really owns a GTR with 1000hp and he behave this way on the road.. I hope too that they will take off his drive license. Forever. Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
I'd rather an Integra For sure... A 4wd twin turbo integra with 1 million hp. So I can smoke all the Rarri. Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
Happy owner of a 2013 GT-R and 2013 458 Italia here. Stock vs. stock, the GT-R is faster--it's faster 0-60, faster in the straights, faster in the corners, faster around a road course, faster on the freeway, just faster overall, period. I track both cars, sometimes back-to-back, and with me behind the wheel on the same track (Thunderhill Raceway in CA), I do 2:09s in the 458 and 2:04s in the GT-R. 5 seconds is a big difference. But... I'm on my second GT-R and my fourth transmission(!). Until the 2013 model year it was impossible to run a full 30-minute session on a hot day at the track in a stock GT-R, because the transmission oil temperature would go through the roof. Even starting with the 2013 model, the car has cooling issues. Also, a set of OEM summer performance tires for the GT-R costs more and lasts half as long as a set of Michelin PSSs for the 458. My tech almost always found something that needed fixing after each track day--I've had rotors go bad, the rear shocks were leaking and had to be replaced, lots of interior trim issues, etc. Bottom line: the GT-R is faster, but finicky and prone to things breaking. It just can't take the abuse. And that's before you realize how heavy it feels compared to the 458: the steering is less communicative, the tires/suspension/stability control all seem to work overtime in every corner, and the turbo lag makes it feel more sluggish than the numbers suggest. Compare this to the 458, which feels completely dialed-in and at home on the track. I'm still learning to drive it fast, as it is a lot harder to coax fast laps out of the 458 compared to the GT-R, but I am having so much more fun doing it, it's not even close. I've also had zero issues with the car after 5 track days--I haven't even had to change tires yet. Yes, that's right, I'm saying the Italian car is more reliable than the Japanese car at the track. Crazy, right? Last November I drove the 458 at a track day at Laguna Seca, then in February I did another event at Laguna but in the GT-R. I turned faster laps in the Nissan, but was missing the Ferrari the whole day. Right now the GT-R is just my daily driver. It has my 4-year-old's booster seat installed in the back, and I use it to commute to work and do grocery shopping on the way home. It's a great daily driver--fast, comfortable, plenty of cargo space, and a vastly superior infotainment system compared to the 458. In other words, it's a great GT car. But for fun drives on weekends and at the track, it's the 458 all the way. My 2 cents.
Sounds like you are not exploiting the 458's full potential, which should be quicker around most tracks. Also 0-60 is meaningless as it is traction limited. At higher speeds, the Italia eats the gtr alive!
Congrats on your new, snobby car. When you get smoked by a GTR in every situation and when a 360 CS exhaust drowns yours out, be sure to come back and let us know you bought the right car.
This is a good opinion! You tried both (as I did) and you know what are you talking about. Maybe the better post in this thread! But the GTR is probably not faster on the straight! (Depends on what do you mean for "straight"). Every car has its pro pro points and viceversa! That confirms what I said.. The GTR is faster because it's 4wd. Not because it's a GTR. What if the GTR was rwd? That's my experience with both cars. GTR will never be at the same level of the 458. There's a reason why the only good thing that we italians are supposed to do very well.. The Ferrari. Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
Sure, but again, the fair comparison is same driver/same track, and the GT-R is consistently faster, at least for me at my track. And I'm not a beginner either, having tracked various cars for 12 years. The GT-R is simply easier to drive faster. As I improve, I expect to be able to get even faster laps out of the 458, and at some point I may close the gap, but for all practical purposes and for most drivers, the GT-R is faster. Randy Pobst drove both at Laguna Seca an did a 1:36.30 in the GT-R and a 1:36.22 in the 458 Italia, i.e. less than a 0.1s difference: Laguna Seca lap records - FastestLaps.com Of course the 458 has a higher top speed (205mph vs. 195mph for the GT-R), but for all practical purposes that doesn't matter. Sure, the GT-R would start running out of breath after 120mph, but how many times do you get up to those speeds in daily driving? What I'm saying is that the 458 *is* the better car on the track, even though the GT-R wins the numbers game. I would never pick the GT-R over the 458 when it comes to track driving, or weekend canyon carving. The overall driving experience is night and day. I don't regret getting the 458 one bit. But I also reject the notion that the 458 "smokes the GT-R" or "eats the GT-R alive" because it most emphatically doesn't. For those who are bothered by this, I recommend buying a GT-R as a daily driver, and just be done with it...
these are the only responses that have any weight on this thread - by those who own both. It is clear that the GTR holds its own very capably. 458-only owners are quickly defensive because they need to justify all that extra money they paid to get the "history" and allure of the ferrari, so of course it has to be "better" - what an insult!! hahaha. Best thing about OP's post is that even though he is a ferrari fan, he is giving his seat of the pants impression of two cars driven back to back, without regard to price (he's not even in the market), history, allure, etc. etc. it's the most honest impression a ferrari admirer can given. kudos to NIssan!
you sir sound more like the fan boy in your posts. you're italian and it's great that you're patriotic - but that pride has clouded your ability to be objective when it comes to comparing other great cars with your exalted national brand. have an open mind - you're still just a baby at 21 and have much to learn. having driven both does not equate to owning both, as several owners of both cars have already chimed in about. their opinions are quite consistent in that there is much accolade to be given to both marques.
Read my previouses posts then.. I'm not! If I was a fanboy I was going to say "GTR sucks" etc, and I'm the only one who did NOT say that, lol. Yeah I'm 21, and? What should I learn? Should I learn that the torque isn't everything? My opinion is "equal" because I don't hate a car instead of another one. It's called "my own taste"! I'd rather prefer a car instead of another one, isn't normal? I'm telling to all of you to buy the car that you really like. Not the "cheaper car to hit 300kmh". So? I'm showing off to be mature, instead other stupid posts like: "Omg omg GTR is faster" or "Omg omg It's a Ferrari". I know the 458. I know the GTR. I know what I want! If you prefer the GTR because it's "faster" good for you! That's not a pro point for me. If I was searching for a fast/cheap, I was driving an R1. My mind is open, and this is my experience. A lot of guys told "because it's a Nissan" etc and you are telling ME that I'm a fanboy and that I have to open my mind? You're so wrong. Oh, what about you? PS: the veyron is faster than the 458 but it's ugly. Do I have to buy the veyron because faster? Come on... That kind of reasoning is silly! Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
even if the GTR can hit a 100 in 1.1 sec, stil i will not think to drive it, hate the plastic smellll for Nissan lol
Great post. I owned a GTR as well. Spot on feedback. Beats just about every car, but is boring doing it. I may buy another for DD.
I don't see how the GTR is faster then the 458 in a straight. I have raced my friend in his 2012 GTR with tune, downpipes and exhaust in my v10 r8 and we are pretty much dead even. My 458 eats my old R8.
Totally agree with the_bode - the GTR is a TOTALLY worthy companion, not a replacement for the 458. Drive them in the same session and you will appreciate the amazing qualities of both. Straight numbers don't do justice to either of the cars.
