It's done, I am now a new Ferrari owner!

I was looking for a Mondial 3.2 or T coupe red/tan. It is an euro version ( apparently from Sweden ) with only 46k km or about 28,750 miles at the odometer.

My first impressions now with a negligible driving experience of less than 4 hours are that this car has a strong personality and I must be patient and take time to tame it, to understand it, to master it. But it is immensely fun and intimately involving.

I also find the engine sound to be very loud from the cockpit; between 3,5k to 4,5k rpm it shows an impressive racy pitch and presence but 5k to redline it is simply insane! It lets you believe that a nuclear flow gets out of this little V8 beast and could perhaps disintegrate it! Undoubtebly remarkable and higly memorable!

Congratulations +1. Shopping and test driving Ferraris is one thing, but having your own keys in hand is another deal.

I am acquiring more experience with my new toy.

    A few quick questions:

1-Can't get to redline in first gear, I didn't know that! It stays around 5k rpm. Why?

2-Downshifting from 3rd to 2nd seems to be possible only if you make it rev ALOT, otherwise it won't engage. Right?

3-RON 95 premium gas is recommended in owner's manual, I put 94 octane Premium gas from Petro Canada. Should I add some octane booster?

4-What was originally included in the rear storage compartiment located between rear seats?

    A few more questions:

5- When oil temperature sufficiently hot, shifting is easier but I do have the impression that there is some rpm sweet spots to ensure perfect shiftings. Is it correct? And if so, what are they?

6- How to put on fog lights? Maybe I don't have them?

I have no experience with the 3.2 but here are my 2 cents..

    1. This is a puzzler.
    2. Like you said in a later post the oil needs to be hot, but 2nd gear sincros can be quirky. I usually double clutch from third into second although I don't have to it just goes in smoother. If you switch to redline gear oil that will help also
    3. 94 Octane is more than enough, I found this quote online...

In most countries (including all of Europe and Australia) the "headline" octane that would be shown on the pump is the RON, but in the United States, Canada and some other countries the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, sometimes called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), Road Octane Number (RdON), Pump Octane Number (PON), or (R+M)/2. Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, this means that the octane in the United States will be about 4 to 5 points lower than the same fuel elsewhere: 87 octane fuel, the "regular" gasoline in the US and Canada, would be 91-92 in Europe. However most European pumps deliver 95 (RON) as "regular", equivalent to 90-91 US (R+M)/2, and even deliver 98 (RON) or 100 (RON).

    Congrats on the new car,

    Dave
