I had understood that since either Massa or Hamilton was supposed to win the championship, that Kimi wouldn't care about his season and would generally not
be very committed to doing well. But I couldn't figure out why he was sooo off (slower then Massa?). Then during the Monza race it hit me. It's all about the constructor's championship. If Massa and Hamilton duke it out till the end and if Mclaren is supposed to win the CC then Kimi has to do worse then Kovalainen.
This has proven to be almost impossible for Kimi. When the deal was made, I am sure no one expected Kovalainen to be so bad.

Ferrari is only ahead by a few points in the Constructers. They had better get the lead out.

+1 the Mclaren is the best overall car for most race conditions and by far the most reliable. Ferrari could easily have NO titles with only 4 races to go.

I would really love to know where you heard that Massa or Hamilton is "supposed" to win the championship. And what "deal"? And is Kovalainen really "so bad"? And are you suggesting that Raikkonen is intentionally sluffing? How can there be a deal when there are so many variables, as any deal, or better a conspiracy, would have to have numerous contingencies? Like accounting for weather, back markers getting in the way and causing one to wreck, etc.

Please, inquiring minds would like to know!

I hear Bernie has rented George Bush's weather machine for the remainder of the season so Massa will lose the WDC to Hammi (we all know Massa can't drive in the wet, right?) :)

No Massa is doing fine he needs no help, having MS as his best mate is all he needs.

Please do not mention Bernie, Max or any other FIA clown that decides to help out, because he can get a free meal in a Italian restaurant.

Bernie has figured he doesn't want another MS running away with it, and Max will deal out his hate for Ron Dennis, at every given opportunity.

agreed. They've had such a big lead whittled away race by race.

KR on the surface seems to be way off yet he gets his contract extended and seems to be still in bed with LdM? Things seem a little suspect to me. It could be a part of some strategy especially if F pull off the WDC and WCC.

Well, why would he want a free meal at an english restaurant? :D

Consider this script: Kimi makes an amazing come-back, and the circus goes to Rio with a three way tie for WDC. Huge ratings for BernieMax (the BM boys?). Then Hammi takes the WDC and Ferrari get the WCC, and F1 still gets merchandising all through england and italy.

Except they'll need the FIA override built into the ECUs to keep Massa from winning his home GP. ;)
Or another scrooch pew by the Ferrari pit crew.

    Quite plausible my friend.

Although I would prefer something to do with a alien space craft landing..;)

The restaurants have improved here of late, but it is after you have lost your teeth that you can afford to buy steaks..;)

So before Singapore I figured out why Massa would win the WDC, Ferrari wants to have 2 world champion drivers. This will be impressive as there are only 2 driving right now.
So that is why they made this deal. Mclaren will win the constructor's title and this is why Kimi put it in the wall.
As I mentioned before, for Massa to win WDC and Mclaren to win the WCC, Kimi needs to finish behind Kovalainen, which is pretty hard considering
how many points Kovalainen is scoring. With Kovalainen doing so poorly and Kubica ahead in the points, this could force Kimi to finish in 5th.
This also explains why Kimi was resigned till 2010, Ferrari knows Kimi, in hindsight, would have crushed everyone this year if not for the Massa plan.
The WDC is going to have a relatively low point total, this because of so many problems/mistakes by everyone up front. Kimi has only scored 29 points
in the last 11 races, this is totally unbelievable.
