I found this 360 by my house in Newport Beach CA. Seems like a very clean car. Here is the link Los Angeles Porsche Speedster Dealers Los Angeles Used Porsche Dealer
Fairly low optioned, and 120k, wow. [no front challenge, no shields, standard electric seats, no extended leather, factory exhaust, etc...]
I looked at this car too. It seems to be in very nice condition, but cm2 is definitely right- no options for the money. If it has shields and electric seats, maybe a different story?
Price will seem like a bargain a year or two from now. Look at what Testarossas did in one year at Haggerty.com. Most, if not all MT Ferraris are appreciating in value. Sent by incredibly fast electrons
It has electric seats. Manual seats would be a plus IMO since they weigh less. It might just be me but no shields isn't that big of a deal anymore. It is just a place for wax to accumulate! Everyone will know it is a Ferrari. You cant see it from the drivers position. In a 360 you can see however, the wheel humps JUST like a Dino. Yup, almost nothing else has those curvy wheel arches to frame your path. A gated 360 offers so much to master that the extra badging is a moot point. There is a lot of Ferrari to master in a well sorted 360. If shields are a big deal you can try some aftermarket ones as there are quality ones available. The three C's! Condition, condition and condition! Everything else is just not that important in the overall scheme of things.
If I was in the market for a manual trans 360 or 430 I would not post a "what do you guys think of this one". Some one will grab it and say thanks!
I know it had electric seats, but I was saying they were standard non-Daytona, non-race seats. Wow, love and hate the direction of the 6mt market... Forces me to think about how much I could fetch.... Uggh.
I see that the car in OP was for sale at Foreign Cars Italia in September of this year for $105,000 with 18,829 miles. I can understand a little hesitation on a purchase when things like this are happening! Good luck future owners!
Where are you seeing the jack? I see the fix a flat can and the toolkit but the space occupied for the jack is empty.
You are right, me bad. Looking back at the small pix v.s. the blow up, it looked like the tool kit was against the back wall where jack would go. Sorry!
Hi Gents, When I was searching for a gated Modena, I inquired about this car. It looked pretty good, but when I sent them my long buyer's checklist, I got the response "Dear Richard, based on your lengthly questionniare, we have decided to pursue other buyers. Thank you for your interest in the vehicle, however." Not quite sure I know what that means and I don't think I've ever received a response like that from a dealer, but at least they were candid. So I'd say, "caveat emptor" on this one.
Hi Andy, I put together a Word document that asked a lot of (what I thought were) the usual questions regarding cosmetics, mechanics, options, history, service records, etc. It was something that I sent all the dealers who had cars I was interested in. A few saw fit to answer all those questions, a few said "it asked too many questions" for them to answer, "they didn't know" about certain things, or "the pictures are self-explanatory". Not surprisingly, some of those cars that were listed as "10 out of 10", "Mint", "None Better", etc., etc, were far from that when I pressed dealers on the questions. I collect (and fish) a lot of fine vintage fly fishing gear and I plan to write a short memoir on my experiences collecting for the past 25 years. One of the chapters will be titled "When Mint isn't Mint", hah, hah! If I can figure out a way to attach it or cut-and-paste on this site, I will try if you are interested.
As a seller I would be out off with the task of filling out a sales application. But happy to answer questions over the phone or in person, allow a ppi, etc.
Would love to see this list if you can cut and paste or attach? I have a long checklist but it sounds like yours is more thorough. Only danger I can see is an impatient/goofy vendor selling a good car who doesn't bother, and you miss out on a good car. This may have happened to me.
Yeah as a seller if I priced my car competitively I don't know how much patience I'd have for a seller that gave me the impression he or she was a PITA to work with. A few general questions then a PPI to give the buyer a good idea what they were buying and then agree to a price. I guess when demand far exceeds supply, sellers can be selective about whom they sell to.
