I said "illusion" and mentioned that no road car can ever be like ANY race car. How often do you hear "race car for the street" which is ridiculous IMO but great marketing.

But I don't think they're using the tech to give the 'illusion' of F1, even. They're using the tech because they feel it's the best way to put the driver at the cutting edge. I think it's too simplistic to say that because they use paddles in F1 then paddles on a road car are there to make you feel like Michael Schumacher. They just think paddles (and all the other stuff) are the best way to get the most out of the car. The F1 connection goes as far as the marketing and that's it.

Some people don't like the F-1 Paddles or the driver aids or the other advances which come from F-1 like CC braking systems and aero strategies.

They would rather have a manual box, steel brakes, no electronic diff or magneride suspension, and no fancy aero except for maybe an external fixed wing rear spoiler.

Fine, if that is what you want I won't criticize that choice.

But I don't think Ferrari should be criticized for making a choice to embrace innovative technology in their road cars.

Their road cars are pretty fast, though... 0-60 in 3.4 seconds!

Well, it´s just like an electric started engine can leave you stranded in a way that a crank started one can´t. ;-)

And after driving more than 180 000 km in F1 shift cars I can tell you this is much more likely to happen than ending up with no drive.
