A Sig Sauer .22 Mosquito that is lol. Just wanted a gun that would not cost me around .40 cents(45) a round to shoot. Its a really fun little gun, kind of weak but helps me practice which is the main reason i bought it.

damn it pic wont post give me a second...

i really like its sights that it came with...just dont buy a skeeter used. First ones made seem to have some issues but the newest ones seem to be good. Only problem i had was i loaded a round a bit crooked. Seems like .22 clips are always a pain.

I bought one for my wife to practice with. I have actually used it more though since it is pennies to shoot and far cheaper than the "big" guns.

Its not one of the first ones, I know those had some problems. Shot 500 rounds yesterday no real problems. been told to use CCI ammo for best results. Its a .22 though so i dont care much how it works, bought it for the fun factor and feel of it compared to other .22s. Basically a good practice gun..

May I ask how much it cost? I remember at the beginning of last year you could buy a 500 round box of Remington's for about $6 w/tax at Academy and now that box is $15!!

289$ before tax. Only comes with one clip though. Sig clips are always expensive, around 40 bucks.

How many round's per box of the CCI? Oh one more quick question, do you have your CHL or are you getting one? I'm patiently waiting for mine in the mail.

However living in texas and with our ability to cary and protect ourselves in our homes and cars im not in to much of a rush to get it. I do not think ill be taking a weapon to the grocery store or the mall etc, but you never know lol..

Yes it is legal in Texas to carry a loaded firearm [handgun] in your car as long as it is concealed.

What about the walk from your car into the grocery store/mall and then back to your car, that is the most likely place something could happen. Just food for thought.

Anyway back to your topic, so how accurate is the gun?

Your Sig Sauer Mosquito looks like a great .22 pistol.
I own a Sig Sauer 9mm P239 which looks like a similar design and size.
The P239 is a great shooting, easy to conceal, 9mm.

I own a much older .22 pistol made by Colt called the "Huntsman".
Both the Huntsman and Woodsman are sought after classics.
Mine looks like the one in this pic.

Its not too bad. I had worked out earlier so a bit tired while shooting but from about 10 yards all were within about a 4inch diameter, 15 yards the same, and 20 yards things got a bit weird but do to me not the gun lol. Im not the best with a handgun but working on it lol.

I believe the Skeeter is 90% the size of the 239. They have a .22 conversion kit for the 9mm but for the price of that you might as well just buy a Mosquito. Unless you want it to be exactly the same size of course.

I've been thinking about picking up a .22 pistol. At one time my dad had a S&W Model 41. I would really like to get one of those with both barrels.

cool!! please be sure to post some detailed shooting impressions. i have been wanting to get one of these to go along with my ruger and walther .22's ( suppressed ) the sig is supposed to be a great shooter, and very quiet with a good can on it. the threaded barrel from the factory is a great plus too.

CCI subsonic has worked flawlessly in all of my semi auto suppressed .22's.

While I agree with the idea of having a 'toy' that shoots cheap ammo to go out and have fun with, I'm very against the idea of 'training' with a .22 pistol to prepare yourself for daily carry with another caliber. When your life depends on it, you want to have plenty of practice with the weapon that may save your life. I carry a Glock 36 in .45ACP daily (with permit of course) and put as many rounds through it as it takes to feel comfortable shooting offhand, blind and under pressure.

That said, I will be buying a .22 conversion kit shortly for my AR15 (Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S Pistol) to go out and have cheap fun with, but then, I don't expect my life to depend on my AR.

    -Tad

PS- I must admit it kinda cracks me up to see concern over the cost of a bullet on a Ferrari forum. :)

I agree. I also believe that more trigger time the better no matter the caliber. Currently I can not afford to shoot 500 rounds of .45 a week thus I can give my self more trigger time with this weapon. Naturally if money was not an issue i would shoot .45 24/7.

For gun safety and weapons handling a .22 is a great tool, otherwise I'm with Tad.

aside from the SIG .22, the Ruger charger has been a good cheap tool to learn and teach others with. i took mine out if its box and took it all apart.

my gunsmith buddy and i stripped it down to bare metal, removing all the painted finish. barrel was nicely blued under the "paint" they use, but we bead blasted everything. all bearing surfaces were polished, and then Dura Coated in Combat black. doing the insides of the receiver really seemed to help as well, on my other full size 10/22's. we then replaced the hammer/trigger/sear with matched lightweight units for a clean , crisp 2 pound trigger pull. i replaced the recoil spring with a lighter one and added a recoil buffer made from some synthetic material, as i shoot subsonic ammo all time, with or without the suppressor. its a great shooter, and many friends wives and teen age children have enjoyed shooting for the first time at a private range with this. everyone learns a bit of marksmanship, safety, and they have fun while doing it. the 10/22 and Charger are a bit rough as they come from ruger, i detest the bolt release they have, so we modify them when we smooth out the trigger. i prefer the clear 10 rounds magazines to the banana clips as it keeps the weight down, and the gun is a bit more elegant.

i will have to find a SIG soon, to finish my fun .22 set !
