i took the 360 out today to simply go to macy's with my lady , and wait outside while she picked something up for the house.

i drop her off, and am in the car running for about less than 10 minutes. the oil pressure gauge gets dangerously low, the red light comes on.

the temperature gets past 280, into the red zone.

i hear this thumping under the car (by the front trunk area), almost like a pump trying to pump, and hitting an air pocket, like a thud.

i park in a spot, shut down the car, open the engine hatch and it's hot as hell (it usually is though).

my girl comes out, i start car, get in it and drive. when i am driving the pressure and temp are normal and consistent.

when i stop at a light, the temp rises and oil pressure goes virtually to zero.

i finally get car in garage, shut it off, and i hear that nasty thud again.

i get down, have a look, and i actually hear fluid, almost like gas bobbling around in an almost empty tank...

    does anyone have any ideas?

You have high coolant temperature, which in and of itself causes low oil pressure (oil thins as it heats up).

If your coolant temp goes too high, then your oil pressure will go too low.

Likewise, high coolant temp means warped heads, an expensive problem to repair because warped heads can lead to so much engine damage later on.

If your coolant temp goes down when you drive around, but skyrockets only when your car is stationary, then the problem is usually related to your radiator cooling fans (driving around can flow enough air through your radiators to cool your temps even without the rad fans running).

Examples would be a burned out radiator fuse, or relay, or coolant temp sensor, or radiator fan failure.

But the issue is that those simple-to-fix examples above can mean coolant temps high enough to warp your heads.

So I'd suggest taking your car to a shop that is competent at diagnosing such issues.

Could have a possible coolant leak/weep. Not enough coolant in header tank will result in the engine overheating. Once on the road, the incoming air flow is just enough to cool radiators with the fans, but when stationary the fans are not enough if there is not enough coolant in header tank. A quick suggestion is to check the coolant level in tank. ENSURE CAR IS DEAD COLD before you open tank to check level. If it is full, then take it workshop to find the problem. Sensor/fans/relays ect......If the coolant level is low, then top up with water and take for test drive again and see if the car overheats. If it still overheats, then there take it to a good workshop to find the coolant leak and sort out the overheating issue. :):)

None F-Car experience here, but couldnt it also be the thermostat not opening? Older american cars used to do that on me and it would cause overheating.

The gurgling sound upfront though would suggest first checking the coolant level as was previously mentioned.

Yes, that could also be an issue here James. I just didnt mention it in my last post, but it can happen here too with this 360. :)

My bet is a bad fan / fuse or other problem not making the fans run. Make sure you use distilled water for your radiator (do not use tap water). Also, Redline water wetter helps transfer heat better and also adds lubrication for the water pump. In south Florida you don't need much antifreeze, but most manuals require at least 30% or so for corrosion resistance and system lubrication. The 70% balance can be distilled water which will give you more cooling. 280 is really hot, I get nervous at 230. Definitely get it checked and don't let the car run with the temps so high!
