Once they are for sale, I imagine we'll start seeing the FF more than 458's or California's. What else would you want to take to the mountain, a Cayenne?

    Furman,
Funny you bring this up. A couple of weeks ago, I was riding with our esteemed regional director and we let our imaginations run wild. We came up with (drum roll) a rocky mountain special FF featuring:

    1. Low range transfer case
    2. 18 inch lift kit
    3. 22 inch wheels with "mudder" tires.
    4. running boards
    5. camoflouge paint
    6. spare gas can mounted to rear with giant embossed prancing horse
    7. gun rack in rear window
    8. brush guard
    9. air intakes 3 feet above hood for deep water
    10. roof rack for dead animals

I figure they could license Berretta or Perazzi for some special guns.

    Pretty cool, eh?

The new Cayenne S and turbo are amazing with good to great speed and handling that is as good or better than many sport sedans. I would have a hard time taking a Ferrari in the snow and rocks and mud etc. The porsches are built like tanks....I still picture a nice Ferrari convertible in the garage for after the winter....

I drove a friends around Daniels Park (S Den/Highlands Ranch) and got it up to 90 comfortably coming down the hill towards a school, had plenty left in it but I didn't trust my ability with a car that is not mine. It was an '06 S model.
    I'm a big fan.

I love the concept of the RM FF though :D

As good as the Cayenne is, it will be considered pedestrian compared to the FF. For the jet-set types in Aspen, Vail, Cherry Creek, Bolder, the FF will be the car to have.

No mud flaps needed but I would add a ski rack. :D

Do they even make winter tires in FF sizes?

The FF is just plain ugly..... I just switched winter cars last week from the Audi RS4 to the Nissan GT-R... Hey, it's all wheel drive, stops on a dime and honestly, I liked the 911 turbo better in the snow than the Cayenne Turbo... Of course ground clearance is an issue but how many times to you have unplowed streets or more than 6" sitting on a road???

The FF may not win the beauty contest but there's no way someone of means is going to choose a Porch over a Ferrari. For those who want to make a statement when the snow is falling nothing else will even come close.

I'll take you up on that bet. I doubt I'll see any FF's within 3-4 yrs in CO.

That's a bold prediction. I'm tempted to take that bet too. Maybe something like loser pays $100 to a charity of the winner's choice?

I understand if you want to back off on that considering how many Cayenne's and 612's are in the state.

Edit: I'm not even sure what we're wagering over. I admit my first statement about seeing more FF than 458 ain't gonna happen. Ferrari never sells more 2+2 that their entry level sports car.

i suspect a flashed ecu equiped panamera turbo s4 will still do 0-60 in 4 seconds in the snow w/ a soccer mom driving it.

porsche always advertised "nothing even comes close"...i suspect in the RM they may again be right.

both the ff and the panamera are not going to win any beauty contests.

I haven't seen the specs for the FF but I suspect a sub 4 second 0-60 time straight out of the box.

And no way no how is a four door going to out handle a two door, especially in the snow.

Additionally, I'm not talking about soccer moms; I know your statement was tongue in cheek. I'm talking about the Aspen/Hollywood and big money exec types. When you are at the top of your game you want to drive something that shows the world that you are at the top of your game.

Up to this point, in snowy environments an all wheel drive Porsche was your only choice. Now that Ferrari has entered that space your not going to choose the car driven by soccer moms and mere attorneys.

Yes people will - even in Aspen. Too impractical.

I much rather have a big SUV (I do) than a 4 door ugly ass car/hatchback. Then again I've seen a few Panameras on the road, maybe I'm wrong.

Too impractical? I think I see why your having trouble getting this. The potential buyers of this car won't be making runs to the Home Depot or dropping the kids off to soccer practice.

This car is for the A-list types and senior execs and practicality is like number five on their list of needs.

Regardless, we'll know in about a year how this car will perform in the market.

I understand who it's for and I don't think they'll be buying it. Time will tell.
