My horn circuit doesn't work, this includes cig lighter and clock.
I find with multi meter I have 5v at the horn button, 0 at the horn when I push the horn button. I used to hear the relay click when pushing the button but now I don't.
Tried switching around relays to see if problem. The horn relay works in other locations.
Car is a 79, my earlier owners manual doesn't match the car. Is the horn relay on the lower row 3rd from the right?

Being electrically challenged how do I go about figuring out what is going on with the circuit.
Prior to this attempt to fix the circuit was blowing the fuse all the time so I just removed the fuse and now want to fix it.

As stated I hate electrical problems and could use a tutorial and some good advice. And my old eyes can't read the wiring chart, too small and all just black.

    thanks
    Cal

Buy Paul's wiring guide on CD. Phone 1-503-472-5644. Problem solved.

I'm sure you will get many sympathizers over this issue. Intermittent problems bug me the most. It makes troubleshooting really un-fun!

I would recommend to start with the fuse box. I mean replace both of them, or repair the buses on them. I soldered mine. The wires are robust. The junctions are usually the culprits. Also, relays do fail, but generally are pretty good as well. There's a strong following on these cars, and that's great 'cause you should get support for every possible problem that may arise.

Is your battery charged? You should have 12v at the horn button.

+1, but just start with the fuses themselves. Per your OM, fuse #16 runs the horn, clock, and cig. lighter -- so remove/inspect/reinstall this 25A fuse. Measure the voltage at the top and bottom male tabs of the fuseblock of fuse #16 relative to ground -- both should be +12V.

While I don't like the presentation used for the 328 wiring diagrams, at least they are legible. Which wasn't the case for the 308 which got me started.

So, sorry, no plans at this time.

Take away the two fuse boxes and solder all the rivets to the bars they are holding. The rivets get loose with time and your electrical systems does funny things.

    Hi Paul,

You did a fabulous job on the wet site and diagrans.

Any plans for a 1984 Mondial Cab US version? ;-)

At the moment I'm trying to fulfill several requests for the 400i
as they suck like the 308 diagrams.

Yours is the first mention of Mondial in the 2 years. Plus
my pdf Mondial OMs (1980, 1982-) don't have a diagram.
What do you use now for electrical documentation? I have
    nothing to work from.

Same with the Mondial QV diagrams. They are quite useful for tracing harness wires but useless in detail as all of the Mondial's "modules" are just represented as (black) boxes. Wanna know how the Check Control works? Good luck! Same with the oil level sensor, etc. No documentation other than where the wires go.

Anyone ferrited out the many systems on this car?

BTW, my car is a Standard Specification '83 Mondial QV.

lol looks like common issue on mondials
I have installed an additional fuse block with a bank of in cabin switches under the AC to be able to bypass fuse panel/circuit board issues. I also carry a set of jumper wires.
Is there a replacement circuit board avail for 82 Mondial 8?

    Frank
