They are small, the smell doesn't last long.

Make sure there are no close water sources for them to access, the poison makes them crave water, so they will often go in search of it prior to croaking.

I would suggest some snap traps with mouse attractant on teh trip lever placed near your garage walls.

Irish Spring soap. Break it up put in various parts of your car. Works. Been doing it for years. I have lived in the country for most of my life. Cars in Barns and such. Tried just about everything. I don't like the poison and little boxes laying around in my car but soap is fine for me.

    Hey Rizzo,

Here's a tip, are you sure its's not a rat!!!

Depending on the poison the little buggers often seek out water before they keel over.

I had a GTV6 before the GT4 and after setting a bait found a large rat that had chewed through the washer bottle and then croaked.

    Rather smelly and expensive exercise!!!!!

    Cheers

    George

Reminds me of long ago I drove from London to Bombay in a Panelvan with 5 others. Somewhere around Iran I think money started to go missing, not a lot, but enough to make every-one very edgy. After a week of this (we had stash places all over the place including under the dash) I noticed some droppings by the steering column. Turned out to be a couple of mice had started using the paper money to build their nest under the dash. The local Bank were not too impressed changing notes that had been chewed but as we had both serial numbers and after a lot of jumping up n down, the money was replaced. Funny ol world :) Can't do that trip anymore, we were the last 'hippy' bus through in late 1978 and Afghanistan (Wow, that what one beautiful place) turned to rats when the Ruskies invaded and we were 'escorted' to the Kyber Pas for our 'safety'!

The first two months of ownership I had my car in the garage of the new house we were building at the lake, had a couple mice get up into my engine bay and into the trunk area as I had the cover unziped, made a nest between the rear interior cover and the rear taillight panel, THEN DIED! Took me two solid days to clean and shampoo the mess up. They actually ate the rubber strip off the garage door to get in, have to lay an L-shaped piece of metal at the bottom of the door and let the door close against it to keep them out. I was NOT amused!

I like the spring traps baited with peanut butter. Put few around the inside perimeter of the garage and the mice will all be dead in a couple days and not dead in your car.

We used to use the bucket-of-antifreeze style trap to keep our cottage mouse free during the off-season.

Here's a link on how to construct your own. (Although we used old paint rollers instead of coffee cans in ours.)

Reminds me of an old couch I inherited from some graduating fraternity brothers - moved it into my room one afternoon and then had a nice sorority gal over that night for a "date." We were fooling around on the couch a little when I looked over and saw a huge mouse sitting on her arm of the couch eyeing the action. I didn't want the evening to end early so I used my toe to punt it onto the floor whereupon it ran and hid under her dress laying on the floor. My date didn't notice any of this going on so we had a great time together and thankfully it had buggered off by the time she was putting her dress back on....
