Back to your old ways already? Why don't you take this new enthusiasm and stop. I think we can safely say your car is a project. Take a hard look at your car and first decide what you are going to do with it. Then think or ask about how to get there. Then do all the "demo" as in strip it out. Then buy all the parts. Then put the car together in a logical proper no cheapout way. Think seriously of starting the guts of your project with the gold kit. The car is never going to run if all the parts are connected together badly. You car is so messed up the gold kit might just give you a fighting chance. Then again your car might give the gold kit a bad name so maybe you better not buy it.

Yes but its part of the plan. Unless you are going to do an aftermarket motec like plugZ, you need to use the motronics as the brain of the system. If the motronics are the start and you must communicate via the wires doesn't it make sense you gotta make those bad connectors work? You are never going to get anywhere until the rest of the car can talk to the brain. Now don't you go be stubborn Ernie on me now that's partly why you are in the pickle you are in. I say you either buy the gold kit or you buy an aftermarket ECU and hope you can fool the smog guy. Either way you are going to spend some money. A Motec like PlugZ is $2500 just for the box.

You got 10 grand? I think to make a decent streetfighter you need 10K easy
    Seats 2000
    harness 400
    motec 2500
    dyno 1000
    parts for major 1000
    decent pads and rotors???
    fix broken parts you need???
    challenge wheels 2500
    decent tires 1200
    shock rebuild 600
    springs ????
    cornerweight/balance 250

Yup, that's coming up soon. Which was also part of the reason I decided to keep it. I already have the stuff need for the major.

JC Whitney sells a bunch of radiators that would fit. Get one of those and you're good to go.

The wheel is already round Ernie, no valid reason to redesign it.

Plastic tank radiators are in every car within eye sight of you right now. I have thousands into the brass and copper radiators I had made for the IMSA car. That was justified only because of the excessive extra heat that needs to be dissipated. What is your justification for redesigning this wheel? Most of the aluminum radiators have the cores Glued to the tanks these days, think that is a world better than what is in the car?

As we discussed and Fatso clearly stated..... A plan. A GAME PLAN MUST BE MADE, discussed, debated, modified, re-through and then a budget developed. The budget will define the direction.

There are a number of us that have been where you are headed many dozens of times and know what you have in store, you might want to consider listening to their advise. Chasing WAG's should be behind you now, time to turn over a new leaf and do this correctly so more good money is not thrown away on poorly thought out plans. Your thread has turned a good many owners (and potential owners) Water Tight for no good reason. Prior to gutting a perfectly good car you might want to consider fixing it first and enjoying a few weekends of trouble free driving. After that.... gut it, cut it up, have at it as you will but do it with a PLAN based on solid reasoning with advise from those that have been there before you!

Your starting point.... is it a race car or a street car? Making a street car into a race car is the greatest exercise in compromise that can be under taken in the car world. It is a quest with no clearly defined stopping points. I am not sure you really want to go there at this point. You might want to consider step one being something that has a feeling of completion and closure to it.... a baseless odd suggestion but one you might want to consider.

Because there is no way I'm gonna pay $2,300 for a radiator that is the relative same size as one used on a damn go-kart. I understand that copper is way better than aluminum at dissipating heat. But even you have to admit Dave that the plastic tanks are a joke. Yeah sure they are used on all sorts of cars. But the difference is that all the cars around you can buy a replacement full size radiator for $100-$300, not $2,300 for one the size of a daggon heater core. It is so grossly over priced that I literally laughed when I heard what the price was the first time.

So I'll be looking to see if it can get repaired, and if not aluminum it will be. Unless I can get a custom copper/brass one made for the same price. Do you have any suggestions for a place out in my neck of the wood that came make me a copper/brass one and hillbilly pricing?
