IMO going back to cars that feel like 355s, 360/430 etc...not going to happen. With safety regulations and emissions etc, cars are only ever getting heavier and heavier. All I care about is sanity to be brought in and that petrol remains available so people can still drive petrol cars around. Should be a blend of eco petrol and the real stuff and gradualle moving toward the zero carbon fuel. That way cost can be kept reasonable. Fuel of course will keep going up and it will be more expensive than as of course they want people to move to EV's for daily use. Call it a necessary evil so that petrol cars can still be enjoyed as a hobby. A full blanket ban is something I'm completely against especially when you consider that a car that'll typically be used with such fuels, is going to be special and will not see a scrapheap because it's got too many miles on it, so therefore it's total cost on the environment is practically guaranteed to be less than any run of the mill EV's.

Someone driving a boring car as their daily, may as well be an EV then with low power engine (assuming the environmental impact is less then).

More crappy news from the UK.

Not only are we running an inexplicable 5 years ahead of the EU in our ban on limiting the sales of combustion engines, our CONSERVATIVE government has is introducing the following **** fest.

From Jan 1st 2024 manufactures will need to ensure that 22% of sales are ZERO emission vehicles
This will stage up annually to reach 80% by 2030.
PHEVs are of course not zero emission vehicles

Manufactures will be fined £18,000 for each vehicle ICE vehicle they sell over the limit.

Clearly things are not looking good for our favourite car manufacturer who's model range features zero zero-emission vehicles.

Mass market makers are not happy either, Toyota, who build a lot of cars here, say it will be very challenging and Ford have issued a statement which (reading between the lines) says something like "**** this we're off".

The case against this policy is getting some support from the business secretary Kemi Badenoch, but key conservative players like Michael Gove are behind it.

Car manufacturers always complain, and then they find a way to move forward.

The car manufacturers are in on this whole scam. Electric motors are a lot cheaper to make and maintain than ICE. Yeah the batteries are expensive but not nearly as bad as they use to be. The manufacturers mark up the prices and sell these EVs at a premium. Yes they are crying all the way to the bank.
