Memorial Day afternoon (and traffic), 113 mph and fictitious plates! This guy is a real rocket surgeon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wait, what?? Is that a pic from a state patrol car? How did you get that? And how did you know the other stuff? Were you riding along?
So he slowed down by the time you clocked him, huh? Rocket surgeon? What's that? Did you mean rocket scientist?
Did you write him? 65 to 115 is just a brief press of the go peddle and even briefer on the brakes back to 65. Were you cool or... What is a "fictitious" plate?
My brother-in-law is a rocket scientist. Would he drive over the speed limit on Memorial Day when there are extra patrols on the highways? Nah. Couldn't happen.
http://www.dmv.org/co-colorado/point-system.php My personal experience is that the speeding is bad enough but when you throw in careless driving which will often accompany 55 mph over the limit life can get rather uncomfortable.
Are you saying you threw in a careless driving charge? What are you doing posting images from your dash cam on the internet? Things may become "uncomfortable" for you too...
I feel safer knowing that taxpayer dollars are being spent on patrol cars, equipment, training, uniforms, computers, weapons, etc.. so that they can be utilized keeping Ford GT's from speeding. For a long time i've been saying we need cops to stop focusing on murders, theft, kidnappings, etc and focus more on high end exotics speeding down the freeway on nice sunny days. At least the driver was nice enough to slow down and let you catch him.
Alright guys before you get too carried away...... who is the cop you are referring to? It is certainly not me. I was sent the photo by a friend of mine. I have several friends in the CSP. They are among the most avid gearheads that I know. I posted it only because I kinda think that the guy deserved it. It was memorial day afternoon, this was more or less at the I-25s c-270w interchange (an interchange that sucks anytime), traffic was a joke, I know because I was stuck in it for a while. It's not like the trooper was hiding on an overpass or anything. He was parked in a highly visible location - he was trying to be seen. Frankly stunts like this hurt all of us who enjoy going quickly from time to time. We need to pick the time and place carefully. To do this at this time and place with improper plates on the car was not very bright.
Golly jee I didn't see this pile up coming from the start of the thread Just let it go guys. I don't particularly care for Colorado authorities--especially coming from CA where simply there was no speed limit. It does no good to waste our breath on the "well they should be off doing something more productive than pulling over people like us." We all take risks. Some of us get away with it for longer than others.
A CSP officer who is a friend of yours sent you a photo with details of the stop including the speed and an incorrect plate number? This of course is a case that has yet to be adjudicated and one now all over the internet. Hopefully the driver has an attorney and has located your posts. Looks like C470 around University.
Oh yes please let's hope he finds it! Just plain awful we saw that picture and heard a story! Jesus christ...
The reason I asked the penalty question is that in Fairfax County, VA, anything over 90mph is jail time. VA has some of the more draconian traffic laws and enforcement. In contrast to, say, Nebraska, where a motorcyclist was cited for 128mph and not found guilty of reckless driving. Speeding, in and of itself, is not prima facie evidence of reckless driving. BTW, you might read a few of the LEO comments regarding the Nebraska incident here... http://forums.officer.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-39715.html Kind of eye-opening. Anyway, as I've had an occasional brush or two with LEOs over the years regarding my rate of speed at the time, I thought I'd ask the question. CW
