I joined the Do Not Call list yesterday and within 24hrs just received my first call

    Ok, here's the skinny. I just registered my cell phone number and 4 other numbers on the do not call list

    Within 24hrs, I received the FIRST spam call to this phone since I've had it the last few months.

    It was in Spanish and pre-recorded so I just hung up. I do have the telephone number and it was originally registered to Marathon Communications in Washington but could have been transferred to another carrier.

    I've had the phone for over a month so either this is coincidence, or some proof that people are using the do not call list (no surprise) to verify legitimate phone numbers for telemarketing.

    Should I write them a letter and try to obtain info on who the owner of the number is?

    Right from the website www.donotcall.gov

    "Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website."

    I've had two of my phone numbers on the do not call last for about a year now and have not had any calls.
