I have seen those billet/anodized red pulley pics on here. Are they available for the 355? Are those belts more robust?

I'm way out of my league on 355's (really, over my head on 348's for that matter), but I understand that the 355 has two timing belts rather than the 348's one timing belt...plus, the 355 timing belt doesn't turn accessories whereas the 348 timing belt powers the water pump (a little extra stress, anyone?!)!

So to me, and I could be way offbase here and have no stats to back me, your 355 shouldn't have a timing belt issue to the degree that my 348 has, and even with the 348 the timing belt issue is negligible and manage-able if you simply replace the thing on a realistic time basis.

Just to elaborate, each 355 timing belt is turning 2 cams and 20 valves.

In contrast, the 348 timing belt is turning 4 cams, 32 valves, and a waterpump.

Greetings SpeedRacer1610, and welcome to The Brotherhood.

I too just acquired my first Ferrari, coincidentally a '95 348 Spider. See my profile for a pix. Be sure and check out No Doubt's excellent tribute to the 348 here: http://www.the348.com/tech/348.html. The gentleman is due much appreciation from all of us. He won't take $$$ so I encourage you to capture the site in the event it should go away.

Regarding maintenance, mine's got a little less than 17K on it. But, it had a 30K in 5/02 at 15K. From all I've read here (and, this site is for sure the best resource for a Ferrari owner) I'm due in the next 6 mos.

To paraphrase No Doubt, "...the problem with driving a Ferrari, is not driving it."

Welcome, and get to a shop.
