Congrats Michael. I have always had a fondness for that car and to this day feel it rarely gets the respect it deserves apart from Porsche owners. Im sure it will turn some heads and wake up some troopers south of Milwaukee... Does this purchase play into just a reaction to the warm weather, your fondness for Porsche, or trade bait for a later car?

Hi David. I just wanted to find a nice 993 Turbo. I've been watching the market and on a linear scale these things are climbing in value. Take care!

I'm not crazy about the rims but I'll have to see the car in person when it gets here (Passport is picking it up this week). Owner (great guy and a fellow F Chat member) says to hold off judgment till I see it. I may put Ruf wheels on car; but I'll hang on to the factory wheels. It's a rare option.

Fantastic looking car! If you keep it a long while, you'll probably enjoy chuckling when it becomes twice as valuable as a similar 996 TT :)

Zenith Blue is actually a lot darker blue than the pics and has little or no purple in it if the light in natural. It's a great color !!!!! Nice car man.....congrats.

Congrats - a good friend had one of those which I was given the pleasure of driving on a few occasions and I must say they deserve all the praise they receive.

I've seen this exact car in person before, I'm sure of it. The exterior color is wonderful, but I don't like the "white-wall effect" given by the painted wheel centers and silver lip. To each their own of course. :)

I'll post lot's of pictures when it gets here (this weekend I hope!)!

I offered the owner $$$ to end the auction early and he did. By the time he got around to actually pulling the car off eBay, it had been bid up to $89K, and there was still four days to go in the auction!

Below is a quote from a post from Rennlist of a guy describing how he lost out on the car I just purchased. I felt bad for him, kind of. :)

    Begin quote:

    I HATE E-BAY AUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!

    WTF

First I call the Seller within hours of his new auction.
I offer to buy the TT for whatever his Reserve is and end the auction early.
He says "No" he wants to let the auction run it's course.
I say "OK, I understand..." but I would like to see the car before I run the bid up and buy it.
My intention was to Buy the Car!
We scheduled a time for me to see it tomorrow (12 hour drive for me round trip) and everything was on schedule until about an hour ago.
Some collector with more money than he knows what to do with offered to buy the car sight unseen for huge $$$.
I can understand that the Seller wants to sell the car for as much as he can get for it.
The Seller even told me that he is shocked to what the guy offered him.
He agrees that the car is not worth the dollars offered but of course he will accept the offer.
I told him that I did not want to get into a bidding war with someone with pockets that deep so I told him that if for some reason the deal falls through then I will still pay his auction Reserve.
BTW- He did disclose his reserve--- $90K
The offer he got for the TT was over his Reserve and it sounded like he would go higher if necessary.
At least the Seller called me today before I spent the time to look at it.
So now I am back looking for the rare BLUE jewel.

I hope you have as much enjoyment as I with the car. Last of the air cooled turbos, I think the bean counters hurt the brand when they took over in 98. Enjoy, its a fantastic car.

Congratulations. The 993 is still my favorite of the 911's and in my opinion the Turbo is the ultimate. Have fun. Hopefully there are still some good examples left when I am of the means.
