    Over the years I have owned a number of interesting cars (Porsche 911 and Boxster, Corvette Conv, Alfa Romeo Spider, Toyota MR2, Fiat X1/9...) however I was always afraid to buy my DREAM Ferrari 308 GTS because of service cost.

    Well, I have finally gotten over my fear due to the excellent posts on this forum, and have done it. Just last week I ended up buying a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS. It is Red/Tan with 85,000 miles.

    I purchased it from the States, and the shipping company just called me today to let me know that the car will be brought across the boarder this afternoon. That means I should have it by Friday, or the latest by Monday.

    I am an absolute Ferrari fanatic, and would like to start to participate in Ferrari social events and meet new Ferrari friends within the GTA. It would be great to be able to go for regular drives with other Ferrari owners, or get together for drinks and talk Ferrari.

    I look forward to participating with all of you on this board, and in social events where we can be behind the wheel of our Ferrari, and not behind our computers!

    The basics:

    Title must be clear.
    Title (or copy) must be presented to US Customs at border crossing 72 hrs before exiting. They do a title search & charge about $50.
    On Canada side of the border you present sales invoice & must pay: 6.1% duty (for Porsches - I don't know duty on Fcars), 7% GST.
    Then to plate it. If under 15 years see the RIV Canada site. If 15 years or older, you must get it safety checked. You pay Retail Tax as applicable.

    I had my car shipped & used the shipper suggested broker, so other than getting the title to them & paying, it just arrived . . .
